We are seeking to appoint motivated employees in the following positions:
RESEARCH & EXHIBITION DEPARTMENT
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT: CENOZOIC PALAEONTOLOGY - (five month fixed-term contract positions, which may be extended depending on funding) – 2 positions
Basic Salary: R 17 147.23 per month, plus benefits
Job Grade: 14
Requirements: Grade 12/BSc or equivalent Prior experience as a Research Technician (in Cenozoic or other fossil collection or similar). Ideal: Bachelor of Science (BSc) and significant prior experience as a Research Technician (in Cenozoic or other fossil collection or similar). Basic experience required in the following: Working with museum collections, Field experience on palaeontology and archaeology sites, Sorting of fossils ad Working on computers, especially with data entry and management Ability to sort and classify fossil specimens Ability to work efficiently, accurately and neatly Ability to work well in a team Knowledge of the history of life on earth Good communication and presentation skills Computer literacy in MS Office Suite Driver’s license preferable.
Key Responsibilities include: Assist with the development and conservation of the Iziko Cenozoic fossil collections, including sorting and identification of fossils, fossil excavation in the field for up to five days at a time when required Capture information onto database Organise and maintain of fossil collections Assist with exhibition and education programs when required.

BASIC SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salaries quoted above do not include benefits. Iziko benefits comprise generous contributions towards a designated retirement fund (compulsory), a designated medical aid (voluntary) and a housing subsidy (voluntary). Other employment conditions such as working hours and leave entitlement are also generous.

COLLECTIONS & DIGITISATION DEPARTMENT
COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT - (Five months fixed-term contract positions, which may be extended depending on funding) – 4 positions
Basic Salary: R 19 218.00 per month, plus benefits
Job Grade: 13
Requirements: Grade 12/BSc or equivalent Ideal: Relevant 3–year degree/diploma in relevant field of study Proven experience in working with natural history museum specimens/collections Proven experience in working with the Specify database or similar database Computer literacy in Microsoft 365 A valid driver’s license is not a requirement but may be an advantage
Key Responsibilities include: Assist with the maintenance of collection data, including the development of inventories, stocktaking, and other clerical tasks Assist with packing, unpacking, and moving of collections material under the supervision of Collections Managers Provide general assistance in storage areas Clean material in storage and on display under the supervision of the Collections Manager Assist in the preparation, accessioning, and registration of new specimens and objects as required.

A certificate in administration, office Management, business management, or a related field At least two (2) years' experience in an administrative or secretarial support role within a customer-focused, public sector or institutional environment Experience in providing administrative support to senior management Experience in report preparation, minute taking and records management Experience in office administration, including diary management, meeting coordination, filing systems and document control Experience in preparing presentations, correspondence and official documentation Experience in managing petty cash, office supplies and stock control (where applicable). Ideal: A diploma in administration, office/business management or a related field with at least three (3) years' experience in a similar administrative environment at government or large institutional level. Valid Code EB Driver’s licence (advantageous) Experience in assisting with budget administration or financial record-keeping will be an advantage.

A certificate in administration, office Management, business management, or a related field At least two (2) years' experience in an administrative or secretarial support role within a customer-focused, public sector or institutional environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in report writing and minute taking Basic office management including management of petty cash, mail distribution and franking (depending on the nature of the Department) The role may also require spending longer hours at the office Experience in preparing presentations, correspondence and official documentation Ideal: A diploma in administration, office/business management or a related field with at least three (3) years' experience in a similar administrative environment at government or large institutional level Secretarial or Administrative Diploma, relevant experience as a secretary/ Administrative/ Office assistant Valid Code EB Driver’s licence (advantageous) Experience in assisting with budget administration or financial record-keeping will be an advantage High proficiency with the commonly used computer software and applications i.e using various computer packages - Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel), Internet, E-mail, MS project, Access and advantage Administrative experience in Fundraising and Budgeting will be an advantage

Competencies Required: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Microsoft Teams Sound knowledge of office administration systems and procedures Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy Business Acumen Good planning and coordination skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic project coordination skills will be an advantage
