The iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority, a renowned World Heritage Park where conservation, sustainable tourism and benefits sharing prevails is looking for a Boat Skipper.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To be the appointed skipper for the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority vessel which includes providing the same services to the vessels of the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife that are stationed within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park as and when needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 with 3 years proven operational experience as a skipper; Valid Skippers license/ ticket endorsed by SAMSA for offshore surf launches; and a valid driver’s license.
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of legislation (OHS Act, Merchant Shipping (National Small Vessel Safety) Regulations, 2007 as amended; Compliance with SAMSA and OHS regulations; Customer Care; Boat Operator; Communication Skills (English & isiZulu); Physically fit; Administration skills; Relationship building skills; skills transfer abilities, must also be able to swim.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Skipping; Operational Equipment Control and Maintenance; Legislation, Policies and Procedures Compliance; Customer Service; Must carry out daily inspections; must be willing and able to train iSimangaliso Authority and/or Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife staff to launch offshore; will be responsible for the licensing and annual survey of the boat (including trailer and launch vehicle) and general upkeep of assets. Will be responsible to ferry iSimangaliso Authority staff and/or Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife staff during offshore routine inspections or ad hoc compliance and enforcement inspections or during emergency situations or ferrying iSimangaliso Authority and/or Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife research staff. Will be required to also drive Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and/or iSimangaliso Authority staff around during routine onshore patrols/ during compliance and enforcement implementation or in attendance to an emergency. The candidate must be willing to undergo additional training and upskilling as and when required.

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT: TOURISM AND MARKETING

Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Executive Manager: Tourism and Marketing, the successful candidate will provide secretarial support to the Executive Manager as well as administrative support function on all matters within the Department.
Minimum requirements: Grade 12 Certificate; 2 to 3 years’ experience in an administration role working with a Senior Manager; a valid driver’s licence. Certificate in Secretarial / Administration (NQF 5) or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Competencies: Skills: Typing, Business English, communication, keeping minutes and coordination. Behavioural attribute: Professionalism, efficiency, flexibility, attention to details, confidentiality.
Key performance areas: Diary Management and Meeting Coordination; Manage the diary with guidance from the Executive Manager by diarising and scheduling meetings promptly and correctly; Record meetings on electronic calendar to allow for viewing by the Executive; Secure boardrooms and arrange refreshments for the Executive visitors; Meet and greet Executive visitors on arrival at iSimangaliso to escort them through to the Office / Boardroom; Secretarial Support: Record minutes at meetings and distribute to the relevant role players; Make changes to presentations as per Executive’s instructions; Type up general correspondence as per Executive’s instructions; Address basic queries from stakeholders and channels specific/complex queries to the correct role players; Follow up on action items from meetings to ensure completion within stipulated deadlines and screen telephone calls to prevent unnecessary interruptions. Office Support: Correctly records and relay messages promptly to the Executive; Act as the point of contact for auditors within the office to ensure smooth audit process; Maintain an effective filing system for ease of tracking and retrieval of documents; Develop a database of contacts and updates regularly to ensure current information; Develop good working relations with relevant personnel for ease of execution of duties and provide ad-hoc administrative assistance as and when required. Procurement Administration: Prepare travel requisitions and submit to Executive Manager for authorisation; Submit approved travel requisitions to Finance Department for processing; Send PO to supplier and submit Supplier invoices to Finance within payment deadlines; Check that invoices are paid timeously and communicate with the Finance Department on processing of invoices. Administration of Divisional Scorecard: Ensure that all direct reports have scorecards in place; Coordinate the goal setting process and ensure that scorecards are signed and filed for easy reference; Ensure that performance agreements and quarterly reviews take place and assessment sheets are signed and filed; Follow up on action items in relation to performance improvement for direct reports; Track performance progress of direct reports in relation to the overall goals on the scorecard.

FINANCE OFFICER: BUDGETING AND REPORTING OFFICER

iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority, a renowned World Heritage Park where conservation, sustainable tourism and benefit sharing prevails, is looking for an experienced Budgeting and Reporting Officer within the Finance unit.
Purpose of the Job: This role is crucial for maintaining financial transparency, managing the organization's financial resources, developing budgets, and providing accurate and timely financial and non-financial reports. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Budgeting & Reporting Officer will collaborate with various departments, conduct financial analyses, and is responsible for optimizing and maintaining the budget and control cycle within iSimangaliso to achieve iSimangaliso’ s strategic objectives.
Minimum Requirements: National Diploma in finance or accounting or business economics or equivalent; Grade 12 certificate, Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience; strong knowledge and understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and budget management; proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel and valid driver’s license.
Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and ability to work independently and accurately; positive customer-centric attitude; good oral and written command of English.
Key Performance Areas: Develop, implement, and oversee the organization's budgeting process in collaboration with the strategic management team and department heads; monitor and analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement; generate comprehensive financial reports on a regular basis, providing insights and recommendations to management; work closely with the strategic management team and department heads to understand their financial needs and assist in budget planning; ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and procedures; participate in strategic planning by providing financial forecasts and analysis based on current trends and industry benchmarks; conduct cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects or initiatives; evaluate and improve budgeting and reporting processes for increased efficiency and accuracy; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on financial matters and provide training and support to department heads on budget-related matters. Prepare and submit VAT returns to SARS on monthly basis and liaise with SARS on VAT related matters. Prepare grant register, ensure management and administration fees are accurately calculated and grants reconciliation are performed.

DRIVER: WATER TANKER AND OPERATOR

THE PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Safely operate a water tanker for the transport and delivery of water to designated facilities, while also managing the operation of pumping and distribution systems to ensure reliable supply for infrastructure, staff accommodation, and tourism facilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12; Valid Code EC (Code 14) licence + valid PDP; 2+ years’ proven experience operating a water tanker or heavy-duty truck; Knowledge of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance; Experience with tanker pumping systems and water distribution equipment; Ability to conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections; Physically fit, able to work extended hours and clean criminal and driving record.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Operate the truck and other assigned vehicles safely and efficiently; Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects promptly; Ensure vehicles are maintained in a clean and roadworthy condition; Complete vehicle logbooks, trip sheets, and other required documentation accurately; Adhere to all road traffic regulations, occupational health and safety requirements, and Entity’s policies and procedures; Report accidents,
incidents, and vehicle breakdowns immediately; Assist with general operational duties as directed by the supervisor; Provide driving/messenger services for iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority; Maintain accurate and up to date schedule trip sheets, i.e. log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption; Perform daily trip and post trip vehicle inspection to ensure that the vehicle is always in the best condition; Handle routine and ad-hoc administrative tasks relevant to the execution of the function; Collect, distribute, and control movement of documents; Report incidents and accidents timeously and compile vehicle condition reports and other records required by Management; Coordinate and liaise with Management to ensure that minor/major vehicle maintenance are carried out.
