Synopsis

The role enables graduates to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world environment, develop technical and workplace competencies, gain exposure to relevant projects and business activities, and build professional networks under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Job Description

• To develop a talent pipeline of skilled individuals for the various business areas within the Corporation and various sectors to address the unemployment rate in the country.
• To create opportunities for unemployed graduates with the required qualifications to develop competencies for employability.
• To grant graduates an opportunity to network with professionals and learn about the different career paths that are available in the Corporation.
• To help graduates apply knowledge acquired from institutions of higher learning to a real-life work environment.

Qualification and Experience

PICC: A National Diploma or Degree or Honours in one of the following fields:

• Built Environment- (Architecture, Construction engineering, Civil engineering, Bachelor of Geomatics / Land Surveying, Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying)
• Infrastructure Economics, Finance and Development- (Development Finance, Finance, Accountancy Economics, investment management)
• Project and Programme Management- (Project Management)
• Environmental and Sustainability Studies- (Environmental science, Environmental Management, Conservation, Geography, environmental geology

IZP: A National Diploma or Degree or Honours in one of the following fields:

• Civil Engineering
• Quantity Surveyor
• Electrical Engineering

Roles and Responsibilities

The IDC offers workplace exposure through a Graduate Programme for a period of 24 months (Internship), Our programme aims to provide a customised, structured, and supervised workplace experience. This allows qualified youth to gain valuable work experience, explore career paths, networking opportunities and mentoring through experienced professionals.

Job Requirements

• Current Professional Registration as a Candidate QS with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) would be advantageous.
• POPI Act, BCEA, EE Act,
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the IDC, PICC, IZP, and its mandate
• MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & MS Teams
• AUTOCAD software for preparing Electrical Engineering drawings
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel
• WinQS, and/or QSPlus and/or CostX and/or Candy (CCS) and/or Bluebeam Revu
• Extensive experience using MS Projects of similar project scheduling software
• Civil 3d, Civil Designer, WADISO or other Civil/Electrical/Structural engineering software
• Knowledge of various standard conditions of contract – JBCC, GCC, NEC3 or 4 and FIDIC
• Knowledge of various applicable technical computer software
• Knowledge of various SANS, Red Book and other engineering norms and standards
