KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

 The role out of Labour Relations policies and procedures that are in line with Labour legislation.

 Give verbal and written Labour Relations advice to management, staff and unions with regard to Labour Relations matters.

 Oversee and advise line managers on the handling of disciplinary, appeals and incapacity cases.

 Oversee the grievances procedures, including facilitating meetings requiring specialist input  Liaise with outside bodies, e.g. SALGA and the Bargaining Council on Labour Relations matters

 Co-ordinate the functioning of the Local Labour Forum.

 Assist with LR training of management and supervisor.

 Handle and advise trade union agreements, e.g. organisational rights; co-ordinate time-off for union activities.

 Keep relevant Labour Relations statistics and analyse Labour Relations trends.

 Regularly monitor the LRA trends, SALGA circulars and advise supervisor and management accordingly.

 This post is the contact between internal and external parties in dealing with Labour Relations related matters.

·       Must be willing to undergo training /course in order to be qualified to function successfully in the various sub-sections 

·       Required to work in adverse weather conditions 

·       Required to work outside normal hours 

·       Be prepared to be placed on standby 

·       Must be able to work on uneven terrain 

·       Have the ability to perform switching operation on networks 

·       Ability to read technical drawings and work without constant supervision 

·       Must be computer Literate 

·       Must be able to communicate in at least 2 of the 3 official languages of the Western Cape

·       According to the Local Government Municipal Staff Regulations (Gazette no. 45181), a person who was dismissed from a Municipality for any reason stated in Annexure E of the said Regulations, may not be employed in any Municipality before the period set out in the Annexure, has expired (refer to Local Government Municipal Staff Regulations: Annexure E).
