Requirements :

  • Grade 12: (R425) qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse. Flexible to rotate to all Functional Business Unit (FBU) of the institution (internally and externally) including ABT. Effective utilisation of resources. Participation in training and research. Maintenance of professional growth, ethical standards and self-development and that of subordinates in line with SANC CPD framework.   • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery case load management including surgical clinics, wards and theatre. The incumbent must be willing to render services at SBAH, Kalafong and Tembisa Hospitals. This appointment is at a joint Gauteng Department of Health and Social Services and University of Pretoria medical establishment and thus the incumbent will have teaching and training duties involving undergraduate and postgraduate students and trainees in all the University of Pretoria Training platform hospitals. The Council must take the necessary steps within its available resources to ensure that the College is accessible to disabled students. 4. The Council, after consultation with the student representative Council, must provide for a suitable structure to advise on policy for student support services within the College.

The following will be an added advantage: The College of Medicine South Africa (CMSA) diploma(s); ACLS(Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); PALS( Peadiatric Advanced Life Support); ATLS( Advanced Trauma Life Support); ECG training(Electrocardiogram) and BSS( Basic Surgical Skills).

 

Duties :

  • Clinical assessment of patients, formulation, development and execution of evidence based and compassionate patient care plans. Daily ward wounds and attendance at OPD, preparation of patients for theatre and performance of surgical procedures as indicated concordant with a medical officer position. Assessment and management emergencies. After- hours calls and execution of urgent procedures. Counselling and education of patients and families. Proper clinical record keeping and participation in ward/ departmental administrative duties. Commitment to the highest level of care, ethics, professionalism and punctuality. Work responsibility within a multi- disciplinary team. Work at, and participate in outreach, at any of the Gauteng Health cluster facilities. Academically: will participate in the teaching programme with the aim of passing the CMSA related exams. The incumbent will and supervise medical interns and medical students
