Duties :

  • Clinical assessment of orthopaedic patients, formulation, development, and execution of evidence based and compassionate patient care plans. Daily ward rounds and attendance at OPD, preparation of patients for theatre and performance of surgical procedures concordant with a medical officer position. Assessment and management of medical and orthopaedic emergencies. After-hours calls and execution of urgent orthopaedic procedures. Counselling and education of patients and families. Proper clinical record keeping and participation in ward / departmental administrative duties. Commitment to the highest level of care, ethics, professionalism and punctuality. Work responsibility within a multi-disciplinary team. Academically: will participate in the orthopaedic teaching programme with the aim of passing the CMSA Orthopaedic Intermediate exama. The incumbent will teach and supervise medical interns and medical students.

Duties :

  • The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, participating in departmental audit activities, preparing and writing of reports, liaison and communication services and community liaison. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors). Willing to do commuted overtime. Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meeting and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g. 120 Death Certificate). Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by excising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards). Participate in multidisciplinary team to the management of patients. Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Participation in departments meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds. Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department. Rendering of afterhours (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients.
