Job Purpose
The In-Service Training Analytical Chemistry position is designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience in a laboratory environment focused on chemical analysis and compliance. In this role, you will support various analytical projects through data collection, testing, and reporting, while gaining valuable insights into the day-to-day operations of a professional chemistry lab.
Key Performance Areas
- Conduct laboratory experiments and analyses on various chemical substances using a range of techniques and methodologies.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols while performing experiments.
- Prepare and standardize solutions, reagents, and samples for analysis as required.
- Document experimental results accurately and maintain comprehensive lab records for traceability and quality control.
- Collaborate with team members on analytical projects, contributing to the planning and execution phases.
- Perform data analysis and assist in interpreting results to support project objectives.
- Support quality assurance procedures by following established protocols and participating in method validation activities.
- Assist in training and guiding junior team members in laboratory techniques and methodologies.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (grade 12) with Maths and Science
- Completed theoretical modules in Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Demonstrable experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within the analytical chemistry sector.
- Proficient in using analytical techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, or titration.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team member
- Solid problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
