COMMISSION FOR CONCILIATION, MEDIATION AND ARBITRATION (CCMA)

 

 

 

The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation & Arbitration (CCMA) is an independent Dispute resolution statutory body established in terms of the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995 (LRA).  The CCMA strives to be representative of the South African society in respect of race, gender & disabilities.

 

The CCMA is seeking to appoint Commissioners in terms of section 117 of the LRA in the following categories:

 

COMMISSIONER (FULL-TIME) x8

 

Purpose of the Job

To conciliate, facilitate, and arbitrate disputes and provide statutory services, in terms of all applicable Labour Legislation, to ensure the CCMA provides efficient and effective dispute resolution and prevention services to the labour market.

 

Key performance areas:

·       Conduct Conciliation (includes mediation and facilitation), Arbitration, Con-Arb, and In-limine hearings

·       Complete case documentation and process outcomes

·       Draft settlement agreements, arbitration awards, and rulings

 

Key requirements:

  • A relevant NQF level 6 tertiary qualification or above (preferably in Labour Law) is required, unless a candidate can demonstrate relevant experience of not less than four (4) years in Industrial Relations, Labour Law practice, or in conducting conciliations, arbitrations, and facilitations.

Advanced preparation on the following statutes is essential, as an initial screening assessment will be conducted: LRA, BCEA, and EEA.

Recruitment will be phased. Shortlisted applicants will be expected to write an assessment at the Provinces/Offices where they applied. The assessments will be conducted in July 2026. Dates will be communicated to the shortlisted applicants.

 

A completed CCMA-endorsed Labour Dispute Resolution Practice (LDRP) qualification from one (1) of the following CCMA partner universities will be an advantage:
