Job Description
Job Purpose: Co-ordinates and controls the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialized tasks / activities associated with LV 400 V electrical network infrastructure in accordance with laid down electrical standards, regulations and legislation.
Duties:• Providing guidelines and specific instructions to personnel with respect to the preparation of work site for major/ minor works and setting up of traffic signage. • Marking routes for the running in and laying of cables and positioning of supporting structures (poles) and providing guidance to personnel on specific activities (e.g. cleaning of conductors, binding and strapping, stripping of individual conductors). • Construct and install new or upgrade existing electrical network infrastructure including cables, distribution lines, substations, transformers, distribution and metering installations and service connections etc. • Jointing and termination of low voltage cable, line stringing and tensioning, low voltage switchgear. • Perform maintenance on electrical LV networks including all associated electrical equipment. • Maintain electricity networks, electrical protection and metering devices, standby generators, building electrical, pump stations (electrical switchgear) and mechanical installations. • Conducting tests to diagnose and determine the nature of the fault and communicating with the immediate superior on the possibility of re-routing supply during major disruption/ repair work. • Performs specialized tasks such as low voltage cable fault finding, termination and jointing, line stringing and tensioning, low voltage switchgear and transformer maintenance to ensure proper and efficient planned, preventative and emergency maintenance in accordance with the specifications and in compliance with the relevant safety legislation. • Engaging controls to operate mechanisms (cherry picker) to facilitate specific sequences (hoisting, overhead repairs and rigging etc.) • Leading and guiding staff. • Monitoring attendance /conduct and output and addressing deviations from agreed performance indicators through meetings /counselling and/or other approved methods designed to improve and motivate personnel. • Maintaining staff discipline and dealing with disciplinary and grievance interventions timeously, fairly and in terms of established policies and procedures. • Referring to work schedules and registers to correct deviations in entries raised during processing. • Transporting personnel / material and monitoring the off-loading of materials and equipment. • Adheres to technical standards and safety legislation by complying with the OHS Act, procedures, policies and guidelines. • Monitor that Contractors adhere to Health and Safety regulations in terms of Municipal By-law, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Trade Test Electrical Artisan
- 2 years relevant experience in an electrical environment
- Valid Code C1 + PrDP Driver’s License
- Valid ORHVS Certificate
- Valid Certificate of competence in Operating a Mobile Elevating Work platform (MEWP)
- Supervisory skills
- Proficient in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages in the Western Cape
Preferred Requirements:
- N4 Electrical Engineering Certificate + Wireman’s License
- Valid Crane Operator Certificate
- Valid Code EC Driver’s License
- 3 years relevant experience as an Electrician in an electrical environment

Job Description

Job Description
Job Purpose: Co-ordinates the application of procedures and sequences associated with the pest and weed eradication program to curb and control risks in order to ensure the provision of a clean and healthy environment conducive to and supporting a better quality of life in accordance with laid down instructions supporting acceptable standards of service delivery.
Duties: Compile work program with respect to expected output, tools and materials. • Conduct inspections and investigations of residential, commercial or other occupied premises and/ or open spaces and/ or public facilities to determine the required interventions. • Attending to complaints related to health and safety nuisances (overgrown vegetation, pest infestation etc.) and records observations. • Oversee the mixing of toxic chemicals in accordance with instructions and issuing pesticides and equipment to field personnel. • Oversee the commencing with spraying sequence, holding spray hose, depressing trigger to release chemical from the tank onto affected surface areas. • Coordinate the fumigation of buildings and various other unhygienic places within the Municipal area. • Conducting stock counting sequences, applying control procedures using specific coding/ labels to indicate counted stock and quantities. • Supervise the cleaning of vehicles and attend to the storage and care of cleaning tools. • Monitor operating expenditure votes within the section with the view to identifying, investigating and notifying the immediate superior of variances and outcomes. • Monitoring attendance/conduct and output and addressing deviations from agreed performance indicators through meetings/counselling and/or other approved methods designed to improve and motivate personnel. • Completing instructional/operational documentation (vehicle log sheets, overtime schedules, travel claims) extracting information from field reports/activity lists and forwarding for approval and processing. • Ensuring that all the administration relating to the refuelling of the designated vehicle is in accordance with the applicable Municipal Policy and Procedures. • Ensuring that all staff wear appropriate PPE when performing duties.

Job Description

Duties:• Planning and oversee the execution of the General as well as Supplementary Valuations in specified time frames according to the MPRA and relevant legislation and policies. • Coordinating the recording of sequences associated with valuations in accordance with stipulated legislation and resolutions. • Assist with Evaluation of tenders received in accordance with the set specifications and general conditions of the contract. • Monitor the valuer in terms of the valuation contract specifications as well as the requirements of the MPRA. • Responsible for all the administrative duties in relation to the general and interim valuations. • Coordinating and interacting with various departments and own section to ensure the finalization of the valuation. • Collect the valuation roll from the valuers and present the documentation to the immediate superior. • Present the valuation roll for signature to the Municipal Manager. •Advertise valuation roll in the provincial gazette and Media according to Section 49 of the MPRA. • Administrate objections from the public and ensure that the valuer received all the objection forms and attend to it. • Coordinate and control the implementation of policies, procedures and systems associated with the functionality. • Keep abreast with property valuation developments and legislation (MPRA, MFMA, National and Provincial Treasury directives, etc.) by conducting searches into best practices with a view to aligning with internal processes and standing operating procedures. • Perform monthly reconciliations by comparing the valuation system totals to the Billing system valuations. • Draw up and maintenance of the register of properties in accordance with section 23 of the MPRA. • Monitor the contractual progress of the appointed external valuation contractor, appointed by Council. • Control and coordinate the operational activities of the appointed contractor and exercise control over work to ensure that correct valuations are obtained. • Compile and submit a report on valuation activities and submit to the immediate superior. • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the level of effective and efficient communication of the Valuation Section and provide professional service. • Responsible for the supervision and control of subordinates. • Ensure proper maintenance of office equipment and asset control. • Ensure a well-maintained designated vehicle and the accurate capturing of kilometres in accordance with the laid down Procedures, Policies, and guidelines. • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety policy of Council.

Job Description
Job Purpose: Co-ordinates and controls the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialized tasks activities associated with the installation, maintenance and repair to water and sewer systems, including, monitoring and correcting the productivity and performance outputs of support personnel and, attending to routine/ general administrative recording requirements contributing to the accomplishment of departmental objectives.
Duties:• Communicating with the immediate superior and establishing materials and resources necessary against specific works orders. • Reading and interpreting drawings/ work orders detailing layout and specifications • Marking routes for the running in and laying of pipes and/ or measuring, marking and drilling plastered surfaces using handheld power tools • Installing valves, flow meters and/ or bends, joints and diverts pipes using couplings and/ or seam welding techniques • Constructing support structures using bricklaying techniques and applying finishing procedures, sealing joints and seams and plastering/ covering open spaces • Inspecting and identifying leaks in the system, isolating defective area and commencing with repair sequence • Clearing blocked drainage and wastewater systems using high pressure cleaning systems to remove debris/ trapped waste. • Visually examining seams, joints and welds on piping reticulation and plumbing systems, fixtures and fittings • Completing ‘critical inspection point’ cycle and attending to the cleaning of drainage systems • Ensure that the household/industrial service delivery needs are met. • Ensure that all Asbestos Cement pipes are replaced with new HDPE pipes. • Supervising personnel / subordinates, temporary employees. • Ensure details of activities are accurately recorded enabling the processing of personnel, time and material allocation and utilization for specific assignments. • Ensure compliance to the OHS Act.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 10
- Trade Test Certificate Plumbing
- Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP
- Proven Plumbing Skills
- Attention to detail
- 2 years relevant experience
- Proficiency in at least (2) two of the (3) three languages of the Western Cape
