Reporting to: Theatre Manager
Purpose: Manages usher recruitment and ensures that front of house employees are trained and professionally execute their duties. Is responsible for ensuring that patrons are welcomed and that their experience at the theatre is enjoyable and safe.
Main Duties:
· Maintains database of all potential temporary FOH employees
· Recruits new FOH staff and ensures that they are trained
· Reviews existing staff compliment against the demand of current and future productions/events
· Obtains master schedule and develops FOH roster for forthcoming productions
· Briefs team continuously on productions
· Provides on going management, counselling and support
· Ensures that patron services on productions runs smoothly
· Manages requests for appropriate ushers for special events
· Announces timeous warnings of commencement of shows
· Makes announcement to audiences on house rules and theatre etiquette
· Monitors the performance of front of House staff and ensures that all duties and responsibilities are executed
· Prepares FOH reports relating to house counts, lost & found, patrons feedback and related issues
· Reconciles costs per production
· Ensures the safety of patrons and staff by through the proper implementation and enforcement of emergency procedures
· Ensures that the emergency evacuation of patrons is controlled and that FOH staff are drilled in the correct procedures to be followed
· Ensure that the FOH staff are trained in first aid and Public Relations
· Oversee Bars, Marketing materials and interact with Cleaning and Security Staff during performances
Educational & Experience Requirements
· Matric Certificate
· Diploma
· 5 years relevant experience
Further Requirements
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
· Attention to detail
· Excellent planning and organizing skills
· Financial and accounting skills would be advantageous
· The candidate must be flexible and prepared to work long hours as and when required
· Knowledge of the Performing Arts, Theatre and related fields would be advantageous
