JOBURG CITY THEATRES (JCT)
The Joburg City Theatres is an entity of the City of Johannesburg that operates Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein), Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre. It provides the integrated management of theatre venues and high-quality entertaining, innovative and inclusive programmes, serving diverse communities. The JCT invites suitable candidates to apply for the following position:
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER: JOBURG CITY THEATRES
Salary range -R 2, 055, 055 to R 2, 601, 272
5 Year Fixed Term Contract
The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors of Joburg City Theatres (SOC) and participate in activities of the Shareholder, City of Johannesburg, where required.
PURPOSE:
Develop and implement the Joburg City Theatres’ strategy as outlined in the Business Plan and ensure achievement of financial, operations, people and stakeholder relations targets in line with the Joburg City Theatres (SOC) and City of Johannesburg (CoJ) policies including relevant legislative frameworks
Align Joburg City Theatres’ strategies with the CoJ Integrated Development Plan and Mayoral Priorities.
PROVIDE LEADERSHIP IN THE FOLLOWING KEY AREAS:
Innovative programming and content management for optimum utilisation of Joburg City Theatres and all its business units;
Financial Management toward efficient and effective use of resources as laid out in National Treasury prescripts, Municipal Finance Management Act and/or Public Finance Management Act;
Forge and maintain strategic partnerships and stakeholder relations, maximise the reputation of the entity, grow its brand and gain for the benefit of the community and the Shareholder;
Optimisation and measurable growth of resources to enhance productivity levels through people, partnerships, existing technology and systems, modern high-benefit business decisions and policies.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Management, the Arts or related fields
7 – 10 years proven Executive Management experience at a strategic level within arts organizations and/or theatre complexes / establishments in the public or private sector
ADVANTAGEOUS QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
A post-graduate qualification in Business or related field
At least 10 years’ experience in an executive management role within the Arts sector.
Certificate in Management Development for Municipal Finance, Municipal Finance Management Programme, Executive Leadership Municipal Development Programme.
