POSITION STATUS : Permanent
Purpose of the job
To ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations of the Broadcasting Frequency Coordination unit, including licensing of broadcasting frequency spectrum amongst others.
Key Outputs: The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager: Spectrum Licensing, and the responsibilities will include: â Manage day to day operations of the Broadcasting Frequency Co-ordination unit. â Publish on an annual basis the terrestrial broadcasting frequency plan indicating availability and usage of broadcasting spectral resources. â Ensure that the terrestrial broadcasting segments of the national radio frequency plan complies with ITU Region 1 plan and takes into account the final acts of the World Radio Conferences. â Ensure efficient assignment of the radio frequency spectrum â Monitor the performance of the staff and ensure the achievement of targets against the Departmental Business plan. Provide mitigating actions when performance falls below the Departmental Targets â Liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders in relation to broadcasting spectrum issues â Participate in and contribute to the relevant ITU forums and facilitate the introduction of new digital technologies.

Qualifications and Experience: â Honours / 4-year Degree (NQF L8) in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic) or equivalent â 5 Years experience in the ICT industry â 2 years experience in broadcasting industry â knowledge of the legislative Framework and thorough understanding of broadcasting and spectrum regulationsâ knowledge of policy and regulatory processes.
