SENIOR ANALYST - FINANCIAL ADVISORS & INTERMEDIARIES DEPARTMENT (PRETORIA) Reference Number: FSCA287 Description Purpose of the Job: To assist the department in investigating complaints of alleged contraventions of the Financial Sector Regulation Act (FSR Act) and other financial sector laws whilst upholding the quality and integrity expected of the Financial Sector Conduct Authority. The person appointed to this position will report to a Manager. Key Performance Areas: • Investigate complaints relating to contraventions of the FSR Act and other financial sector laws; • Ensure that regulatory action is taken when contravention is confirmed; • Deal with debarments of persons who have been found to have materially contravened the FSR Act and/or any sector law; • Deal with suspensions and withdrawals of entities authorised in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS Act); • Liaise with investigators on investigations conducted in terms of the FSR Act;• and • Be able to perform administrative and other activities relating to the regulatory framework. Other Key Competencies: Candidates must demonstrate the following skills and attributes: A high level of judgement and a confident and decisive approach, problem analysis, information gathering, communication skills (verbal and written), good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, customer relations and persuasiveness skills. Good knowledge and/or experience of the functioning of the FAIS Act and other financial sector laws, and knowledge of the Workflow system is essential. The role involves actively implementing controls that will ensure compliance of data assets to the relevant data related frameworks, policies, and standards. The focus will include driving implementation of data related initiatives and projects, as well as making sure that the FSCA achieves the required level of data consistency, quality, and protection to meet overall business needs. This position will work closely with business area counterparts and ICT technical teams to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the related departments. The person appointed to this position will report directly to Senior Specialist: Data and Analytics. Key Performance Areas: • Drive implementation of data projects and initiatives. • Responsible for supporting and implementing required data services in line with the DAMA framework. • Drive the Data Quality Management program. • Support the implementation of controls as required by the data governance framework, data quality framework and the data management framework. • Develop control structures within the environment to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels. • Manage, monitor and report on data governance compliance as well as data quality. • Implement a business glossary. • Provide thought leadership and participate with projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes. • Ensure controls are in place over applications to ensure the data integrity by performing data integrity gap analysis. • Coordinate the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the business owners and ICT. • Implement a data asset catalogue. • Ensure the right information is available to the right stakeholders at the right time in support of the organization’s objectives. • Ensure that information is available only to authorized parties and that its use does not put customers, partners, employees, or the brand in harm’s way. Other Key Competencies: The candidate must demonstrate the following skills and attributes: Active listening, Critical thinking, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and pay attention to detail. The following abilities are a must for the position, expert knowledge of various backend development languages and database technologies like .net & SQL. Knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies and different modeling languages is an added advantage. Requirements A Bachelor’s degree information-technology, business, or related equivalent, with more than 10 years of relevant experience in at least 5 years of data management experience or equivalent, including experience in Business Analysis, financial services and data quality.
