Broadband Infraco, is a long distance national and international optic fibre connectivity network infrastructure provider based in Radiokop, seeks to appoint a suitable candidate to the following employment opportunity: INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL JOB ADVERTISEMENT SPECIALIST: IP/ MPLS (PERMANENT) Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the Senior Manager: NOC, the incumbent will: • Manage Technical escalation from the NOC TAC -1 by providing fault diagnosis and resolution guidance. • Resolve escalated network problems by following the fault management process and ensuring the customer’s SLA are achieved. • Escalate unresolved network issues to vendor (TAC-3), by packaging with concise description, actions and traces required for escalation of bugs and/or request for assistance. • Responsible for providing innovative technical solutions for complex and challenging network instability and outage issues. • Support the NOC in terms of DCN issues (Troubleshooting-problems like routing issue. • Configure IP/MPLS Routers and Switches for DCN Management, • Systems integration- integration of various network management systems such as TNMS, EMS, open source and, commercial OSS. • Ensuring that new customer service is configured provisioned and tested in accordance with service delivery processes and procedures. • Implement Network security solutions for the DCN e.g., firewalls. • Support field services (Technician) when installing Network Elements to the DCN Network for Management. • Add Network Elements on the DCN Network e.g., DVR, FMS, EAS, and Rectifiers. • Regular monitoring of key systems performance and indicators such as latency, quality of service (Qos), jitter and BER. • Regular reporting of key systems performance indicators such as latency, quality of service (QoS), jitter and BER. • Generate systems availability reports for routers, switches, and servers. • Synchronise networks systems and devices. • Configure and secure network devices to prevent them from cyber security threats. • Configure SSH on all devices. • Ensure that the integrity of the network by adhering the company’s information security policies and procedures. • Ensure that the planning and implementation and integration of network elements and management thereof adheres to technical specification and standards, • Conduct evaluation of tenders and bids. • Assist in the implementation of special projects such as SA Connect. • Verify that Acceptance Test Protocol documents are supportive of post-implementation network management, Qualification and Experience: • Minimum B. Tech Electrical or Computer Systems Engineering with Telecommunications as a Major. • Vendor Valid Certifications e.g., CCNA, CCNP. • MEF Certifications. • Professional membership and registration with – ECSA, SAIEE. • Minimum 5 years’ experience in different operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Unix, and Network Management Systems. Broadband Infraco, is a long distance national and international optic fibre connectivity network infrastructure provider based in Radiokop, seeks to appoint a suitable candidate to the following employment opportunity: INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL JOB ADVERTISEMENT SENIOR ENGINEER: TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY (PERMANENT) Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the incumbent will: • Participate in technology evaluation and recommendation of new vendors, hardware, and software. • Evaluate current network status in terms of age, capacity, maintenance and where it is in the life cycle. • Undertake research in respect of best practice deployment of latest technologies and services. • Research industry trends as far as demand for certain services is concerned. • Follow developments in standards bodies like the ITU and other professional organisations. • Apply advanced knowledge to plan the transmission network for the future, ensuring that all aspects are technically sound. • Maintaining a holistic view of the network to ensure planning does not take place in isolation. • Regularly perform traffic forecasting, capacity planning and equipment requirements. • Provide input into capital expenditure and operating expenditure budget and into corporate plan. • Prepare and present documentation for funding approval, operational and capital budget. • Provide input to the transmission network growth plan based on customers’ traffic forecast and requirements. • Assist in responding to tenders, mentoring, and training of new interns. Identify suitable technologies and suppliers. • Participate in tender responses, customer engagement, prepare and present documentation for funding approval, operational and capital budget. Mentor engineers. • Provide the necessary management inputs to support the business and technology strategy. • Design, implement, and support the Broadband Infraco Cisco centric WAN, LAN, and WLAN environment. This includes routers, firewalls, security, wireless, LAN switching, and Nexus Data Centre. • Provide Support and troubleshooting to a mix of networking technologies including MPLS, VRF and BGP working within BBI ISP/service provider environment. • Design and implementation the Broadband Infraco peering IP networks using BGP. Identify areas of improvement, develop and implement acceptance testing plans. • Provide Configuration, provisioning and deploy designed network solutions from build to deployment within the Broadband Infraco IP Routing, MPLS / BGP environment. • Design and execute plans to remediate network risks and potential outages. Lead the deployment of infrastructure network technologies consistent with the Broadband Infraco corporate and industry standards. • Provide support for LAN and WAN network performance issues and outages. • Analyze network traffic patterns and bandwidth usage. • Manage vendors; perform network assessments and security audits. Research, evaluate, design, and deploy new technologies. • Design and develop the Broadband Infraco evolving global IP network Peering architecture providing high availability and seamless data connectivity. Establish IP Peering at all NAPAfrica centres, DINX, currently concluding peering at London Internet Exchange (LINX). • Develop Broadband Infraco's Global IP Transit Strategy. • Develop solutions to ensure optimized cost of production and good customer experience through effective leverage of caching, ISP(s) integration, smart content management, routing, analytics, cloud, and virtualization. Qualification and Experience: • Degree in Computer Science e.g., BSc Computer Science (or equivalent) or Degree in Engineering e.g., BSc Engineering (Light Current with Telecommunications). • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE#29153) – Routing & Switching. Extensive knowledge of IP networking and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the following are an advantage: Cisco Routing and Switching Field Specialist. CCNP, CCIP, CCNA Voice, Cisco Advanced Wireless Design Specialist, Cisco Routing and Switching Field Specialist, Project Management and having good writing and presentation. • Manage the peer relationships and negotiate the peering interconnections. Manage peering OPEX to achieve cost efficiency & drive latency optimization. Represent Broadband Infraco at Industry, Peering and standards forums. Negotiate peering agreements with other. • ISPs, such agreements set forth the details of how traffic is to be exchanged, along with a list of expected activities which may be necessary to maintain the peering relationships and manage Broadband Infraco's Global IP Public Addressing with Regional Internet Registries (AFRNIC). Qualification and Experience: • Degree or Diploma in Accounting. • 5+ years’ experience in a financial environment with exposure to accounts payable, ledger accounts, asset management, capitalisation of assets, operating vs capital, understanding of the transfer from work in progress to capital asset, accrual accounting. • Experience in project management environment. • Understand computer and financial systems and capital accounting process. • Report writing.
