JOB DESCRIPTION: Key performance areas include but are not limited to: • Institutional Strategy/Strategic directions: Develop, implement, and monitor of financial strategy of the University • Financial planning and analysis: Prepare, maintain, and analyse financial reports and financial results. • Financial Management: Manage financial matters overseeing various processes, and giving inputs and recommendations, to provide insight into the university operations and business plan. • Accounting: Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems. • Supply Chain Management and Motor Fleet: Oversee and manage these functions • Planning, policy, and Investor Relations: Engage with the Financial Committee of the Council to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections. • Institutional Development: Represent the university in efforts with investment bankers and potential investors • Insurance/Real Estate: Manage the university insurance programme and property portfolio in consultation with all relevant stakeholders. • Governance & Reporting: Compile and implement financial policies and procedures within an acceptable governance framework. APPLICATION CRITERIA: Qualification and Experience: • Honours degree • Chartered Accountant (CA) and a member of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a Senior Management position with full responsibility of the financial function • Experience in a Higher Education environment and an understanding of its challenges. Skills and Competencies: Strategic leadership, transformational leadership, communication skills, networking, strong business analytical and budgetary knowledge, computer literate, flexibility/adaptability skills, organisational understanding, project management, resilience, results orientation, technical expertise, teamwork, and stress management, conflict management skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
