The incumbent should have the ability to cogitate and operate strategically while demonstrating exceptional environmental diagnosis and analytical capabilities. The incumbent should display significant municipal or local government understanding whilst also possessing the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders positively, including the shareholder, unions, customers and the private sector. The primary role of the MD is to manage the operations of the company, ensuring that it is run efficiently and effectively in accordance with the strategic decisions of the Board and in compliance with the Companies Act, MFMA, Systems Act and other applicable legislation, regulations and guidelines.
The MD will work closely with the Board and should have significant previous corporate management experience and a proven track record of effective team management and results driven leadership. Appointment requirements: • A minimum of a relevant bachelor's degree. NQF Level 8. An MBPJMBL or equivalent qualification is preferable • Compliance with the MFMA unit standards as prescribed in Regulation 493 of 15 June 2007 and published in the Government Gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007 * 8 years of senior management/executive level experience at least five of which should be in a Comparable environment • A proven background in executive level strategic and operational planning. • Advanced knowledge and experience of relevant policy, legislation, institutional governance systems, audit and risk and finance management Strong stakeholder management and communication skills • Proven ability in performance managing a diverse executive team • Experience in the Waste/Environmental Management sector will be an advantage. Re advertisement Position: Chief Operations Officer Department: Operations (Braamfontein Head Office) Contract Type: 5 Year Fixed Term, Performance Based Contract Reporting to: Managing Director The Chief Operations Officer (C00) shall oversee, direct, and organise the work of all Pikitup operations, ensuring smooth operational coherence, a high standard of functioning and productivity. The incumbent shall ensure that a consistent standard of service excellence is developed and maintained which equals the strategic direction and intent of the City of Johannesburg and Pikitup as well as all the Service Delivery Agreement (SDA) requirements of the shareholder. The COO will drive a culture of high performance throughout operations ensuring that organizational outcomes are met timeously. Due to the nature of Pikitup operations, the incumbent must be flexible to work after hours including weekends and public holidays as required. The ideal candidate must be able to maintain and build trusted relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. Appointment requirements: • A relevant bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Waste Management, or Logistics Management. An MBA or equivalent qualification would be an advantage. • At least 8 years' experience at a senior management/executive level in a comparable environment in the public or private sector • In-depth experience and understanding of operations • Demonstrable experience in project management and performance management.
