Position : Chief Executive Officer (Managing Director)

Contract type : 4 Year Fixed Term, Performance Based Contract
Reporting to : Board of Directors
The primary role of the MD is to manage the operations of the company, ensuring that it is run efficiently and effectively in accordance with the strategic decisions of the Board and in compliance with the Companies Act, MFMA, Systems Act and other applicable legislation, regulations and guidelines.
The MD will work closely with the Board and should have significant previous corporate management experience and a proven track record of effective team management and results driven leadership. Pikitup is looking for a principled, analytical and strategic thinker who understands government priorities and policies in respect of economic inclusion, development and transformation.
A minimum of a relevant bachelor’s degree. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.
An MBA or equivalent qualification is preferable
Compliance with the MFMA unit standards as prescribed in Regulation 493 of 15 June 2007 and published in the Government Gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007
8 years of senior management/executive level experience at least five of which should be in a comparable environment.
A proven background in executive level strategic and operational planning.
Advanced knowledge and experience of relevant policy, legislation, institutional governance systems, audit and risk and finance management
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Proven ability in performance managing a diverse executive team
Experience in the Waste Management sector will be an advantage

Short-listed candidates will be subjected to screening and security vetting to determine their suitability for employment, including but not limited to: criminal records; citizenship status; credit-worthiness; employment history, reference checks and qualification verification. Preferred candidates will be required to undergo the CoGTA battery of psychometric and skills assessments in terms of the relevant regulations
Furthermore, the person appointed to this position will be subject to a security clearance, the signing of a performance agreement and an employment contract.
