JOB TITLE: General Manager: Communication: 5- year contract
SALARY GROUP: General Management
LOCATION: Corporate Office (Umjantshi House)

DEPARTMENTAL MISSION: To drive and lead the organisation’s dynamic communication functions and activities in a manner that enhances the organisation’s reputation, identity and image.
OUTPUTS:
Strategy development
• Develop PRASA internal and external communications’ strategies and plans.
• Develop communications policies (including social media).
• Define appropriate methods of communication (magazines, plasma screens, station radio, notice boards, intranet/ internet) for the organisation.
• Develop group communication standards and practices.
• Lead the development of initiatives to improve stakeholder’s communication experience.
• Develop key messages that elicit the behaviour, emotion and recognition objectives of the organisation.
• Direct the development of the company’s corporate image and identity (including the use of logos and signage).
Direct and oversee the provision of corporate affairs services
• Direct and oversee the provision of the following services for the organisation:
• Stakeholder management;
• Marketing;
• Communications;
• Events management, and
• Corporate social investment initiatives.
Provide expert communication advisory services
• Build and maintain strong relationships with all key stakeholders.
• Support the development and implementation of external stakeholder engagement program.
• Drive awareness of the organisation’s complaints procedures to improve the overall customer and commuter relationship.
• Support the executive team through proof-reading, branding and preparation of the organisation’s publications.
Management of resources
Manage:
• the use of departmental assets;
• finances in terms of budget forecasting and spending; and
• human resources in terms of:
- Training and development;
- Performance management
- Succession planning;
- Quality of work etc.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Training and knowledge of relevant applicable legislation; the business environment, the relevant role players within the business and their key responsibilities;
• Administrative procedures and processes;
• Extensive experience in proofreading and editing;
• Ability to drive and deliver communication outcomes to meet strategic goals
• Ability to interpret complex information and communicate it simply
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, content management systems and social media platforms.
• Confident communicator with the ability to present effectively to diverse audience

CAPABILITIES:
Minimum requirements
• NQF level 8/Honours in Communications/Marketing/Public Relations
Ideal: Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Experience:
• Fifteen (15) years Communications experience in SOEs/Private Sector/Corporate Affairs
AND
• Three (3) years Senior Management Experience
Legal requirement:
• Valid South African driver’s licence
