POSITION: EXECUTIVE – HEALTH & SAFETY, AND TRANSPORT
Location: Nelspruit (Head Office), Midrand or Cape Town
Job Profile:
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual for the Health & Safety and Transport Executive role. The role is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Occupational Health and Safety strategy for the organisation in order to ensure compliance to relevant legislative and statutory requirements. The role is further responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organisation. The role is expected to actively participate and assume responsibility for cross-functional organisational decisions and initiatives at an executive level.
Reports to: Managing Director
Key Performance Areas:
- As part of the WOF Executive, responsible for ensuring the future viability and integrity of the company through:
- Developing the overall strategy and identify and articulate the key strategic goals of the company.
- Develop the relevant company policy and corporate governance framework for the company’s operations.
- Develop the operational plans of the company to realise its strategy and, in particular, its strategic goals
- Ensure the financial stability of the company.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and contractual obligations.
- Responsible for providing value driven leadership and shaping the culture of the company by promoting and living the company values.
- Responsible for regular monitoring of performance and reporting to relevant governance structures.
- Fundamentally committed to working as an Executive Team, with mutual support, respect and accountability for their actions.
- Health & Safety Management:
- Develops and reviews OHS direction, policies and strategies.
- Ensures that OHS philosophies are integrated into organisational values.
- Manage and take accountability for the development and alignment of the Health & Safety strategy with the business strategy and ensure the active execution of the strategy.
- Transport Management:
- Managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organisation. This includes managing budgets, organising schedules and routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties.
- Manage risk associated with transportation and develop mitigating plans across the organisation.
- Manage the development, performance and maintenance of the organisation’s transport to produce an efficient transport service, maximising performance, value and profitability against pre-agreed targets.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety Management is required.
- Post graduate qualification in Health & Safety Management as well as Transport / Logistics Management qualification will be advantageous.
- 5-10 years’ relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in a similar position.
- 3 Years at Senior Management level.
