REQUIREMENTS : Grade 10 (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 3 years semi-skilled manual experience; A valid (Code EC) driving licence with professional drivers permit (PDP).Competencies: Good understanding of the maintenance and repair of defects on roads and within road reserves; Conflict and diversity management; Skills needed: Communication (verbal and written); Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Ability to work in a team; Self-motivated.
DUTIES : Supervise the maintenance and building of roads; Inspect work, supervise and train workers; Handle and maintain machines and aids which are used for roads maintenance work and construction work; Plan and supervise maintenance and construction of roads, premises and building; Repair equipment in and to buildings, premises and roads; Undertake the safeguarding of work areas and construction machines in terms of the Health and Safety Act; Discipline subordinates and apply proper labour relations. The following will be advantageous: Experience in the operating of more than one large construction machine; Experience as a supervisor over a team of workers; Experience in civil construction activities; Preference will be given to candidates who acquired credits/qualifications in construction unit standards accredited with the relevant SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) on NQF Level 1 and higher.
