​Walter Sisulu University is a multi-campus, comprehensive University, with its seat at its Nelson Mandela Drive campus in Mthatha. The University has four campuses in Mthatha, Butterworth, Buffalo City and Queenstown. Applications are hereby invited for the following position based in Mthatha Campus.

LECTURER: COMPUTER SCIENCE (P8)

Qualifications:
 Master’s degree in computer science (NQF 9)
 Candidates with a PhD in Computer Science (NQF 10) will be given preference.
 
Experience:
 Minimum Two years teaching experience at the tertiary level.
 Ability to teach Computer Science modules both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
 Proven ability of dissemination of research findings at national and international conferences.
 Proven evidence of at least one publication in peer-reviewed journals.
 
Key Performance Areas 
 Offer tuition to undergraduate and postgraduate students. 
 Students’ performance management and admin: compile teaching material, conduct classes, assess, and do administrative duties associated with teaching & Learning.
 Initiate new programmes and participate in curriculum development. 
 Ensure quality in education standards. 
 Plan and undertake research within niche areas of the department. 
 Promote research and community partnership within the department. 
 Conduct independent research. 
 Supervise research projects at postgraduate level.
 Active participation in departmental activities including performing departmental and faculty committee duties. 
 Liaise with other academic and non-academic units and external parties.
 
Skills and Competencies Required: 
 Candidate must be patient, person-oriented individual who can interact with students from various disadvantaged background in a manner that fosters their academic growth. 
 expertise in e-learning and online teaching platforms
 Good lecturing and presentation skills. 
 Ability to work with large number of students. 
 Expertise in at least one of the areas: Python, Functional Programming, Cybersecurity, AI 
 Team player 
 Possess good critical and interpretive skills 
 Possess good communication, computer and interpersonal skills.
