RECRUITING TUTORS FOR 2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

To apply, you need to meet the following inherent requirements: 
 
Requirements:
  • Be a postgraduate student or in the final year of your studies during the 2025 academic year. 
  • Applicant must have achieved a minimum of 65% in the module you wish to tutor. 
  • Be enrolled as a WSU student or an unemployed WSU graduate. 
  • Be proficient in English and computer literate. 
  • One or more years of tutoring, facilitation, or teaching will be an added advantage. 
 
Skills and Competencies Required:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Competence in using online platforms such as Moodle, Microsoft Teams, and other digital tools for tutorial sessions. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. 
  • Exceptional writing skills in English. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently, demonstrating respect for diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives in both online and face-to-face settings. 
 
Your duties/responsibilities: 
  • Facilitating online and face-to-face tutorial sessions. 
  • Assist students with understanding course content and improving academic performance in the assigned module. 
  • Marking tutorial assessments. 
  • Promote active participation and encourage collaborative learning among students during tutorial sessions. 
  • Contribute to the scholarship of tutorship. 
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and submit required reports to the tutorial coordinator. 
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the programme. 
  • Act as a mentor; offering advice on study skills, time management, and academic strategies. 
  • Uphold the institution’s standards by maintaining professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality.




If your application is successful, you will be required to dedicate 10 hours per week (2 hours daily) to this position. This is an on-campus role and you will be expected to utilize online facilitation technologies for work-related engagements as per tutorship programme guidelines.
