JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
 Academic leadership within the area of business risk– Teach and assess at undergraduate/postgraduate levels; Develop curriculum in applicable field of specialisation, influence the development, maintenance, and control in field of specialisation.
 Research leadership – Undertake post-graduate research in field of specialisation, provide accredited research outputs, teach graduates and post-graduates.
 Industry relationship building – Liaise with industry including consultation work/collaborative research;
 Community engagement – Participate in community flagship programme/projects.
 Internal process – Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line-manager.
 
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
Qualification/Experience:
 A doctoral degree in a business-related discipline.
 An advanced qualification in Applied Risk Management or related area
 An undergraduate degree in Accountancy
 Possess a sound knowledge of the theory and application of applied risk management and business finance.
 Six years of tertiary education or related industry experience.
 Research experience and output in DHET accredited journal(s).
 Affiliation with a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
 Presentations at conferences is recommended.

 Excellent planning and organising skills;
 Good inter-personal and time-management skills;
 Problem solving skills;
 Computer literacy;

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Manage Fixed Assets section and supervise staff members;
• Development of policies and implementation thereof;
• Development of internal controls and implementation thereof;
• Assign tag numbers to fixed assets;
• Develop plans and strategies for annual asset verifications;
• Supervise verification of fixed assets, including Satellite Campuses;
• Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets;
• Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets;
• Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of;
• Conduct periodic impairment reviews for tangible and intangible assets;
• Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets;
• Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciations;
• Record fixed asset acquisitions and disposals in the accounting system;
• Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed;
• Overall maintenance of the Fixed asset register;
• Reconcile monthly the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger;
• Responsible for the Annual Financial Statement disclosure in compliance with IFRS/ relevant applicable accounting standards;
• Conduct workshops on assets with VUT officials and departmental assets controllers;
• Prepare and compile monthly reports on all aspects of the Fixed Assets section;
• Manage all cell phone contracts;
• Manage insurance claims;
• Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their enquiries.
• Track university expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and manage authorizations

Qualifications and Experience: 
• BCom degree: Accounting/BTech: Cost & Management Accounting/ Auditing. • At least 5 years’ experience working with Assets
• Experience with financial reporting requirements and annual financial statement preparations. • Ability to produce accurate and timely monthly reports and financial accounts

Job Summary:
The Senior Lecturer/Ass Professor in Education will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, engaging in impactful research, and contributing to the academic community within the Department of Education. The successful candidate will mentor students and faculty, develop innovative curricula, and enhance the overall educational experience at VUT 
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Teaching and Learning: Deliver engaging and effective lectures, seminars, and workshops at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and assessment methods. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and success.
• Curriculum Development: Design and revise course materials and curricula to reflect current trends and best practices in education. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance program offerings and ensure alignment with institutional goals.
• Research and Scholarship: Conduct original research in the field of education, leading to publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Seek external funding and grants to support research initiatives. Present research findings at academic conferences and engage with the broader educational community.
• Supervision and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in their academic and research pursuits. Provide guidance and support to junior faculty and staff within the department.
• Service and Leadership: Participate in departmental and university committees, contributing to academic governance and policy development.
• Engage in community outreach and partnerships that enhance the reputation and impact of the department.
• Professional Development: Stay current with developments in the field of education and engage in continuous professional development. Contribute to the academic community through participation in workshops, seminars, and professional organisations.

APPLICATION CRITERIA:
 
Qualifications and Experience:
• Educational Qualifications: PhD in any field With a Master’s degree in Education.
• Teaching Experience: A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the higher education level and a proven track record of effective teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
• Research Experience: A strong record of research and scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals (a must). Evidence of successful grant applications or research funding (added advantage).
• Supervision: Experience in successfully supervising graduate students' research projects and theses.
• Curriculum Development: Experience in developing and implementing innovative curricula and assessment methods (added advantage).
• Professional Engagement: Active participation in academic governance, committees, industry and/or community activities, and professional organisations.
• Further appropriate qualifications in the field of study, higher education and research training are strongly recommended.
 
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in education.
