JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
 Perform social assessment of students by analysing factors in the home or community that impinge on students’ academic performance.
 Support first year students with difficulties adjusting to university life.
 Crisis management- attend to during and after hours’ crisis, working in coalition with campus clinic and protection services.
 Screening and identification of mental health challenges.
 Containment of presenting difficulties.
 Provide counselling services and interventions.
 Develop strategies on how to assist needy students.
 Develop programs to assist students with social problems.
 Assist students who abuse substances and refer appropriately.
 Manage support groups for those who have problems with substance abuse.
 Assist students living or affected by HIV and AIDS.
 Help students with unplanned pregnancies – pre/post abortion counselling.
 Liaise with internal and external community agencies such as social development, NICRO, NGO’s etc.
 Serve as liaison between families and the University to positively promote collaborative processes in the educational planning of students.
 
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
Qualification/Experience:
 At least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
 Master’s degree in Clinical Social work will be an advantage
 Registration with SACSSP is a prerequisite
 Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Social Work post qualification
 Proven experience in working with adolescents and young adults
 Experience in Higher Education environment would be an added advantage.
 
Skills:
 Written and verbal communication skills
 Analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
 Ability to plan, organise and manage projects
 Ability to work with staff and students from diverse backgrounds
 Ability to work under pressure and over weekends as and when required
 Ability to work independently
 Administrative skills

JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a critical post for Electrical Engineering. The senior lecturer is to assist in the management of the department, research, teaching and community engagement.
 
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Teaching in the disciplines of power, electronics, process control and computer systems engineering from diploma to doctoral level.
• Supervision to graduation of post-graduate research qualifications up to post-doc
• Research productivity (such as journal articles, book chapters, patents) in the chosen fields of electrical engineering
• Serving in various administrative committees in the Department
• Contributing to curriculum development
• Contributing to quality assurance programmes such as ECSA
• Creating and maintaining collaborative relationship with the industry 
 
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
Minimum requirements:
Qualification
• PhD/Doctorate degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering
• Background qualifications must be Bachelor (BEng/ BTech/ BSc Eng) and master’s Degrees (MEng/MTech/ MSc Eng) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
 
Experience
• A minimum of four (4) years of academic experience at lecturer level in an institute of higher education.
• DHET accredited research outputs:
• Proven track record of research publications in accredited journals
• Proven record of supervision/co-supervision of Masters’ and Doctoral students
• Evidence of successful curriculum and academic development,
• Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and /or community activities.
• Knowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements.
• Evidence of provision of academic leadership
• Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa
 
Added advantage
• NRF Rating as a researcher is an added advantage
• Evidence of international collaboration in the relevant research areas
• Record of external fund attraction and management is an advantage

This is a critical post for Electrical Engineering. The lecturer’s responsibilities are executing all aspects of teaching and learning work, research, community engagement in the department.

Qualification
• Master’s degrees (MEng/ MTech/ MScEng) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (first degree must also be in Engineering such as BEng, BscEng, and or BTech
• Reasonable progress towards attaining a doctoral qualification.
 
Experience
• A minimum of two (2) years (after master’s level) of relevant lecturing experience in an institute of higher education OR five (5) years of professional industrial experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• Evidence of research productivity in the form of accredited journal articles, peer reviewed conference proceedings, patents etc
 
Added advantage
• Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa
• Evidence of successful teamwork experience

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
 Render therapy/counselling to students (individual and groups)
 Provide career guidance and counselling to students and external clients
 Present life skills workshops and organize awareness campaigns on mental health issues
 Administer, evaluate and interpret psychological tests
 Train and supervise peer helpers
 Travel to various sites of delivery/ satellite campuses to render services
 Coordinate the psychometric profiling of first year students
 Design, develop and implement programs in the following areas: Residence counselling, community programs, crisis/trauma counselling, substance abuse, life skills programs and peer educators’ programs
 Undertake research and do needs analysis to inform program development.

 At least a Master’s degree in Educational/ Counselling/ Clinical Psychology
 Registration with HPCSA as a Psychologist is a prerequisite
 Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Psychology
