JOB DESCRIPTION
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Supervise post-graduate research
• Teach and assess at Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Postgraduate Graduate diploma levels.
• Develop curriculum in applicable field of specialisation.
• Compile learner guides and coursework material.
• Provide academic support to learners.
• Handle learner-related development and managerial tasks.
• Undertake research, consultation and community service projects.
• Undertake post-graduate research in the field of specialisation.
• Liaise with industry, including consultation work/collaborative research plan.
• Provide accredited research outputs.
• Conduct student and academic administration and reporting duties in line with responsibility.
• Assist with the management of the department’s administrative load.
• Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line manager Application Criteria:
 
Qualifications and Experience: • A PhD or equivalent degree in Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Systems • At least six years of higher education teaching or industry-related experience • Proven research track record. Recommendations • Lecturing experience at the University of Technology or any Higher Education Institution • Accreditation/Membership with relevant professional bodies. • Experience in the utilisation of e-learning platforms. • Knowledge of Data Science or Programming 
 
Skills And Competencies:
• Above-average communication and interpersonal skills
• A person possessing initiative and strong ethical integrity
• Competent organisational and presentation skills
• Teaching or lecturing experience will be an advantage.
• Related industry experience in one or more of the Department’s specialisations subjects (Business Analysis, Databases, Software Development, Information Systems) will be beneficial.
• Experience in big data, data analytics and business analysis will be advantageous.

Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Contribute to teaching and learning in the field of Information Technology as delegated by the Head of Department;
• Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line manager
• Teach, Assess and moderation – summative/formative assessments including moderation to ensure adherence to standard and quality;
• Provide academic support to learners
• Develop relevant learning material according to the university and SAQA guidelines;
• Undertake research in Information Technology related fields
• Participate in national and/or international conferences and publish research findings in accredited journals;
• Participate in community service projects;

Qualifications and Experience: • An appropriate Masters degree in an Information Technology or Computer Science or related field with 70% average; • Possess sound knowledge in research methods and the theory and application of the area of specialisation; • Teaching/lecturing experience or related industry experience will be an advantage; • Membership of relevant professional bodies will be an advantage; • Willingness to register for a doctoral program in Information Technology and be able to complete it within six years; • A passion for learning; • Previous lecturing experience in an academic environment is an added advantage • Experience in the utilisation of e-learning platforms will be an advantage • Applicants must be South African citizens who are less than 40 years of age Skills And Competencies:

This is a critical post for Electrical Engineering. The senior lecturer is to assist in the management of the department, research, teaching and community engagement.
 
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Teaching in the disciplines of power, electronics, process control and computer systems engineering from diploma to doctoral level.
• Supervision to graduation of post-graduate research qualifications up to post-doc
• Research productivity (such as journal articles, book chapters, patents) in the chosen fields of electrical engineering
• Serving in various administrative committees in the Department

Experience
• A minimum of four (4) years of academic experience at lecturer level in an institute of higher education.

• Evidence of successful curriculum and academic development,
• Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and /or community activities.
• Knowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements.
• Evidence of provision of academic leadership
• Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa
Added advantage
• NRF Rating as a researcher is an added advantage
• Evidence of international collaboration in the relevant research areas

Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Academic leadership – Develop and review course materials, teach and assess students at undergraduate/postgraduate levels, prepare teaching and learning portfolio as evidence of compliance to standards, and take part in department management tasks delegated by the HOD and report on achievement in PMC.
• Research – propose and design research concept notes and concept maps for post-graduate research in field of specialisation in the department, undertake post graduate supervision and examination, research and publish accredited research outputs.
• Develop curriculum in applicable field of specialisation - influence the development, maintenance, and control of curriculum in field of specialisation.
• Industry relationship building and external engagement – Liaise with industry including consultation work, project proposals and collaborative research projects.
• Community engagement – Develop community engagement project contents and study guides and take part in the implementation, participate in community flagship programme/projects.
• Leadership, university administration and enhancement aspects.
• Internal process – Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line-manager.
