PhD/Doctorate degree with specialisation in hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral
Processing, and / or Geo-Metallurgy
A minimum of four (4) years of relevant (teaching, industrial or practice) experience.
DHET accredited research outputs
➢ Five (5) Research Output units
➢ Five (5) completed Masters’ or Doctorate as supervisor/promoter or co-supervisor/ promoter

Excellent communication and presentation skills, excellent teaching skills, planning and organising skills, conceptual skills, analytical ability, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Performance Areas include but not limited to:
- Academic leadership – Develop and review course materials, teach and assess students at undergraduate/postgraduate levels, prepare teaching and learning portfolio as evidence of compliance to standards, and take part in department management tasks delegated by the HOD and report on achievement in PMC.
- Research – propose and design research concept notes and concept maps for postgraduate research in field of specialisation in the department, undertake post graduate supervision and examination, research and publish accredited research outputs.
- Develop curriculum in applicable field of specialisation - influence the development, maintenance, and control of curriculum in field of specialisation.
- Industry relationship building and external engagement – Liaise with industry including consultation work, project proposals and collaborative research projects.
- Community engagement – Develop community engagement project contents and study guides and take part in the implementation, participate in community flagship programme/projects.
- Leadership, university administration and enhancement aspects
- Internal process – Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line-manager.

Qualification and Experience:
Senior Lecturer
Minimum requirements:
- PhD/Doctorate degree with specialisation in hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral Processing, and / or Geo-Metallurgy.
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant (teaching, industrial or practice) experience.
- DHET accredited research outputs: One (1) research output (accredited article)
- Evidence of successful curriculum development and academic management
- Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and/or community activities
- Knowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements
- Specialisation in Hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral Processing and/or Geo-metallurgy.
- Experience in the application of geological and mineralogical knowledge in metallurgy.
- Liaison with Metallurgical Industry including consultation work
Added advantage:
- Industry experience is a recommendation
- Registration with a professional body is an added advantage
- Supervision of Masters’ and PhD students are an added advantage
- Further appropriate qualifications in the field of study, higher education and research training are strongly recommended
Associate Professor
Minimum requirements:
PhD/Doctorate degree with specialisation in hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral
Processing, and / or Geo-Metallurgy
A minimum of four (4) years of relevant (teaching, industrial or practice) experience.
DHET accredited research outputs
➢ Five (5) Research Output units
➢ Five (5) completed Masters’ or Doctorate as supervisor/promoter or co-supervisor/ promoter
- Evidence of successful curriculum development and academic management
- Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and/or community activities
- Knowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements
- Provision of academic leadership in the fields of Hydrometallurgy, Mineral Processing, and Geo-metallurgy within the department
- Experience in the initiation and implementation of post-graduate research programmes in the fields Hydrometallurgy, Mineral Processing, and Geo-metallurgy
- Liaison with Metallurgical Industry including consultation work
Added advantage:
- Registration with professional body is an added advantage
- Industry or practice experience is a recommendation
- Further appropriate qualifications in the field of study, higher education and research training are strongly recommended
- Rating as researcher by a scientific or other funding agency is recommended specialisation in Hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral Processing and/or Geo-metallurgy.
- Experience in the application of geological and mineralogical knowledge in metallurgy.
