FINANCE DIVISION 
PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

GRADE 7 
 
The University of Zululand is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Accountant to join our Finance Division. The primary purpose of the Project Accountant role is to prepare all financial project reports and provide management with accurate information in the areas of costs, budgets, and forecasting of internally and externally sponsored projects, in an efficient manner, in line with sponsor/donor requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring that accounting records are accurate and compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), particularly in terms of revenue recognition.
 
KEY ACTIVITIES 
• Preparation, Facilitation and Management of External Funding 
• Management Reporting to Internal and External Project Stakeholders 
• Management and Control of Project Financial Processes 
• Risk Management 
• Special Projects 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
• Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) or Bachelor of Accounting Science. 
• Five (5) years of relevant experience 
• Completed accounting articles. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Comprehension and ability across key financial management components, including IFRS requirements. 
 
PREFERENCES
• A CA(SA) qualification, postgraduate qualification, or management experience in the relevant field would be a recommendation. 
• Experience in the Higher Education sector or project financial management would be an added advantage.

FINANCE DIVISION 
CREDITORS CLERK 
REFERENCE NUMBER: 2024/12/MD68 
GRADE 11 
The University of Zululand is seeking an attentive and detail-oriented Creditors Clerk to join the Finance Division. The role is responsible for the timely and accurate processing and reconciliation of all documents related to payments to Creditors for goods and services rendered, in accordance with the Supply Chain Management policy and procedures. 
 
KEY ACTIVITIES 
  • Processing of Invoices 
  • Query Resolution 
  • Financial Administration 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
  • Diploma in Accounting or a related field 
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience. 
 
PREFERENCES
  • A Degree in accounting and prior experience in an accounts payable environment would be recommended. 
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS 
Knowledge
  • Proficiency in finance policies and procedures 
  • Strong computer Literacy, including knowledge of ITS systems. 
 
Skills 
  • Compliance
  • Attention to detail and clerical accuracy.
