The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship offers modules and programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Department aims at equipping students with knowledge and skills to excel in dynamic business environments and entrepreneurial ventures. Through cutting-edge research, meaningful community partnerships, and a commitment to transformative learning experiences, we prepare students to drive organizational success and turn visionary ideas into impactful realities.
The successful candidate for Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in business management, management and/or data analytics.
- Develop and update course materials, ensuring alignment with the latest industry trends and academic standards.
- Utilise innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Conduct research and publish in the fields of business and management, analytics and entrepreneurship
- Present research findings at national and international conferences and contribute to the academic community through publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
- Contribute to the administrative and strategic functions of the department, including participation in committees, curriculum planning, and accreditation processes.
- Engage in community service and outreach activities that promote entrepreneurship and business and management education in the wider community.
- Lead initiatives that enhance the department’s reputation, visibility, and impact in the field of Business, Management & Entrepreneurship.
Minimum Requirements
- Doctoral qualification or equivalent in the field of Business Management, Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning in the field of business management, management and/or data analytics.
- A record of publications in the field of business management, management and/or data analytics.
- A record of successful supervision at Honours and Masters level.
- Demonstrated competence in community engagement.

Minimum Requirements
3 year degree (NQF 7) or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science with 3 years relevant experience developing SharePoint sites or
- Senior certificate (with Bachelors pass) with 5 years relevant experience developing SharePoint sites.
- Office 365 certification.
- Experience working in an academic environment
Competencies Required
- Experience implementing SharePoint On-Premises, SharePoint Online, Power Platform and O365 solutions
- Experience of SharePoint Framework (SPFx), SharePoint PnP, SharePoint Search, TypeScript, C#, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript
- Basic experience of SharePoint APIs
- Basic understanding of service-oriented and object-oriented development environment
- Understanding of modern SharePoint web stack and creating deployable packages
- Experience creating low code/no code solutions using PowerApps and Power Automate workflows
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Graph and Azure Active Directory
- Understanding hybrid implementation of SharePoint on-premise and SharePoint online and related complexities

Advantageous
- Understanding of Fluent UI, user interface design and prototyping

- Scheduling of complex refresh of data
Minimum Requirements
- Three (3) Year Degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent at NQF Level 7 in information systems or analytical field with 3 years relevant experience,
- Senior Certificate (with Bachelors pass) and Industry recognised certifications or accreditations in similar fields with 5 years relevant experience.
Competencies Required
- Demonstrable Work Experience required in data preparation, data gateway, and data warehousing.
- Working with Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack, Self-service tool such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Understanding of SQL and JavaScript.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in business intelligence, databases, and technical aspects of BI tools.

Reporting to the Assistant Accountant Fixed Assets, the role will be responsible for, among others:
- Monitor system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets.
- Assign bar codes to fixed assets.
- Barcoding of university assets
- Record fixed asset acquisitions.
- Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets.
- Identify and investigate any obsolete assets.
- Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
- Conduct periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
- Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
- Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
Minimum Requirements
- Senior certificate
- 2 years relevant experience in fixed assets
- Valid drivers’ license with 2 years driving experience
- Advantageous would be a post matric Diploma, with Accounting as a subject
- Experience with the following software will be a distinct advantage:
- Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Fixed Assets Register system.

The University if the Western Cape has an asset register with historic costs exceeding R3.3 billion, and contains over a hundred thousand unique items. The recording of this huge investment in the fixed assets register poses a complex and challenging set of tasks that require the skills and efforts of a talented and diligent Fixed Asset Accountant. The Fixed Asset Accountant will report to the Financial Accountant and be responsible for staff controlling physical fixed assets. We seek a skilled individual to plan, organize and manage the Fixed Assets Department through the use of resources, systems and people in order to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures.
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
- Full disclosure relating on Annual Financial Statements to Fixed Assets in the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Notes in terms of accounting standards (IFRS 16)
- Leases & Corresponding Liabilities
- Knowledge of Maintaining the asset register with this class of assets
- Knowledge of capitalisation of lease requirements in terms of IFRS.
- Disclose capital projects i.e. property, plant and equipment according to IFRS standards.
- Knowledge of significant assets and IFRS.
- Liaise with Building Contractors and other major infrastructure and equipment projects
- Budget & Planning
- Forecasting the effect of Future capital investments for Budgets and Five-year Plan
- Knowledge and application of capital budgeting to assist the Management Accountant with Budgets, Forecasting and Five-year Plans
- Developing and maintaining the asset register
- Maintaining accounting and management information relating to fixed assets
- Reviewing and reporting on GL fixed asset and related information to detect potential errors/inconsistencies
- Informing and advising relevant department heads of fixed asset management
- Providing fixed asset related information on request and being available to clarify such information to users and heads of cost centres
- Staying abreast of practical implications of legislation and IFRS changes relating to fixed assets
- Ensuring the accounting for additions, disposals and depreciation of fixed assets is accurately and timeously updated in the ledger
- Providing financial procedural advice relating to various stakeholders
- Responsible for the asset registers and general ledger to ensure completeness, accuracy and validity
- Preparing/assisting with the preparation of various fixed asset accounting related reports required by the Department of Higher Education and other statutory bodies
- Performing various administrative tasks that form part of the Fixed Asset Accounting and Management function of the university
- Design, write, update and enforce policies and procedures which govern fixed assets
- Enforcing the Fixed Asset policy
- Plan, execute and reconcile ad hoc asset counts periodically, carrying out asset counts.
- Attend infrastructure project meetings
Minimum Requirements
- Post matric qualification: Bachelor’s in Accounting (NQF 7)
- 3 years’ relevant experience in fixed assets
- 2 years’ supervisory experience
- Valid Drivers’ Licence with 2 years driving experience
- MS Word (including creating templates, using tables etc.); MS Excel (non-negotiable) including developing reports, using lookups and pivot tables; and an e-mail and scheduling application (preferably G-mail).
- Experience with the following software will be a distinct advantage:
- Infor LN or any other ERP system
- Fixed Assets Register system.

The candidate will deal with large volumes of data and must be able to work in an ordered and organised manner.
The role requires dealing with people from widely differing professional, financial, social and educational backgrounds and the candidate must be able to maintain a professional demeanour towards them.
