The Department of Student Administration is part of the Registrar’s portfolio. The department runs and coordinates many of the student-based administrative functions of the University e.g. admission and registration of students; administration of examinations and graduations; official release of results and academic transcripts; student cards (ID), and assisting students with a range of registration/enrolment related-matters. Our goal is to provide a professional, friendly and quality service in an efficient manner.
We strive to effectively administer the University’s policies, procedures and rules while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and adhering to the highest ethical standards.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Liaison Officer: Examinations and Graduations. Reporting to the Coordinator: Examinations and Graduations, the incumbent will assist and support the Examinations and Graduations Office with the operation of the undergraduate and postgraduate examinations and graduation processes at the University. Additionally, the incumbent will liaise with staff in Faculty and Central Administration departments (Student Credit Management, Financial Aid and the Office of the Deputy Registrar) to ensure the successful completion of graduation ceremonies and examination sessions.
Minimum Requirements
We seek a Liaison Officer equipped with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Post-matric qualification (NQF 6) with three year’s relevant university administrative experience (in examinations and graduations processes);
- Demonstrated experience and understanding regarding the functionality of academic and student administration IT systems;
- Be proficient in using web-based IT solutions.
The following would be advantageous:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF 7);
- Experience in administering and facilitating online and virtual academic processes.
Desired skills/competencies:
- High levels of honesty and integrity ;
- Ability to work under pressure and be prepared to work after hours;
- High energy levels over sustained periods of the academic cycle are required;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- The ability to collaborate with various stakeholders;
- Planning and organizing skills;
- Excellent time management skills.

The Faculty of Community and Health Sciences at the University of the Western Cape is situated on two campuses namely; Main campus and Bellville campus. The Faculty is one of the leading institutions for the education of community and health sciences professionals in South Africa. The Faculty offers professional qualifications in Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, Community Development, Inter-professional Education, Interdisciplinary Studies of Children Families and Society (CISCFS), Complementary Medicine, Public Health and Biokinetics. We currently have a position available for an experienced administrator at our Faculty office to be responsible for the Faculty’s public relations, events and related administration. Reporting to the Faculty Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for and not limited to: monitoring and updating of faculty website and social media platforms; marketing and marketing material; organise special Faculty staff and students’ events; compile faculty newsletter and annual report; organise the Deans annual awards ceremony; responsible for faculty’s recruitment drives and open days; responsible for Faculty’s orientation programmes; provide PR support to faculty’s community outreach programmes. The incumbent will also be the committee officer for Faculty Board and liaise regularly with the Deanery, student enrolment management unit, ICS, departments, staff members, students, faculties, tertiary institutions and external organisations.
Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) and at least three years Higher Education academic administration experience
• Expertise in MS office with advanced Excel functionalities and familiarity with Google products and applications.
• Excellent office management, minute taking and report writing skills.
• Experience with data capturing, processing and reporting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability in utilising digital media electronic tools for effective communication.
• At least three years’ experience in Marketing.
• A valid driver’s licence.
Added Advantages
• Working knowledge and or experience of a Student Enrolment Management System.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and without supervision.
A submission of a portfolio of evidence in drafting newsletters, annual reports and organising events is a necessity

The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines, including Accounting, Business and Finance, Economics, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Academic Literacies, and Political Studies. The Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, and School of Government also form part of the Faculty.
The Department of Accounting has accreditation with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). The Department offers a three-year undergraduate degree and a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) for SAICA’s Initial Test of Competence (ITC). The Department also offers an alternative three-year degree in Accounting, which is accredited by the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) and a number of other Professional Bodies.
Key Performance Areas:
- Facilitating learning and teaching at an undergraduate level, primarily in the area of Financial Accounting.
- Providing academic administration.
- Conducting research and publishing.
- Undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
- Undertaking curriculum development and assessment.
- Participating in community engagement and outreach.
- CA (SA) qualification
- At least one year of experience in facilitating learning at a tertiary level-, in the field of Financial Accounting.
