Minimum Requirements
  • A relevant Degree or Advanced diploma (NQF 7)
  • Experience of 3 years' or more in Grants and Contracts administration. 
  • MS Word (including creating templates, using tables etc.); MS Excel (non-negotiable) including developing reports, using lookups and pivot tables; and an e-mail and scheduling application (preferably G-mail).
  • Experience with Infor LN or any other ERP system will be a distinct advantage.
  • Planning and work scheduling of multiple requirements in this sector.
  • Up to date knowledge of applicable Statutory and Legislative requirements.
  • Analytical financial and operational thinking.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop, assess, manage and motivate staff.

  • Maintain relevant and up-to-date records of all electrical requirements

  • Raise and close Job Cards on the maintenance management system
  • General maintenance function to quickly analyse and solve electrical issues
  • Communicate effectively with the foreman and maintenance manager to determine how problems relating to electrical concerns will be addressed  Efficiently source and control parts and spares
  • Deal with clients, service provider management and vendors
  • Report on snags, issues and items affecting building condition and performance
  • update vehicle log book
  • Assist the foreman/maintenance manager in investigating and keep up to date with new products and technology which can assist the organisation in reducing costs and improve service
  • Ensure employees, buildings and equipment meet the relevant safety requirements in terms of the OHS Act and any other relevant regulations
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Senior certificate ( matric)
  • Trade certification from a recognised college or organisation
  • 2 years proven experience in electrical systems, including experience with hand and power tools
  • A valid driver’s license (code EB) – with 2 years driving experience
  • Must be physically fit and not be afraid of heights
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Must have good knowledge of health & safety requirements in the workplace
  • Good health and of sober habits
  • Availability for overtime duty

The Mastercard Foundation in partnership with the University of the Western Cape aims to develop Africa’s next generation of leaders. The Scholars Program, to be implemented over a period of seven years, provides financial, social and academic support to a diverse range of talented undergraduate and postgraduate students who are financially and socially impeded, especially young women, refugees and displaced youth, persons with disability and young men, from South Africa and other
parts of the African continent. Through the Scholars Program, UWC will strengthen its role in producing transformative leaders.

Accountable to the Director of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and reporting to the Program Director and the Director: Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Coordinator: Student Transitions will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive set of wrap-around support programmes in consultation with relevant UWC divisions for Mastercard Foundation Scholars at UWC in preparing their transition into the world of work as change agents. This will include career guidance; leadership development, community-engaged learning, digital knowledge, skills and application; entrepreneurship and internships. The Coordinator: Student Transitions will also establish and manage relationships and partnerships with external organizations, including industry partners, to identify dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for Mastercard Foundation scholars and alumni of  the Scholars Program.

Responsibilities of the Coordinator Transitions include:
  • Develop and implement an annual programme of transitions support for Mastercard Foundation Scholars;
  • Develop and coordinate the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program annual wrap-around support programme (WASP) in collaboration with WASP team members;
  • Serve as one of UWC’s representatives on the Mastercard Foundation’s Transitions Community of Practice;
  • Co-ordinate entrepreneurial pathway programmes for Mastercard Foundation Scholars to transition into dignified and fulfilling work;
  • Engage employers and university and industry partners to support Mastercard Foundation Scholars source internship opportunities and co-ordinate all internship arrangements for Scholars.
  • Work closely with UWC’s Career Services Division to implement a career mentoring programme for Mastercard Foundation Scholars at UWC;
  • Develop programmes for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars to participate in community development and entrepreneurship activities in collaboration with the relevant university support divisions;
  • Develop and facilitate online and in-person training, mentoring and networking opportunities for alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program including working with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate alumni engagement initiatives;
  • Implement a communication strategy to stay in contact with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program alumni as they transition into the world of work and record their experiences and successes;
  • Compile, together with the Program Director, UWC’s monthly and quarterly reports on transitions for submission to the Mastercard Foundation;
  • Collate required information on transitions for Mastercard Foundation Scholars for inclusion in reports to the Mastercard Foundation;
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of the transition programmes to identify shortcomings so as to inform necessary adjustments and realignments.
 
Minimum Requirements


Qualification and Experience:
  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree at an NQF 7 or an equivalent qualification;
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience preferably in a higher education/research institution with evidence of involvement in student development initiatives;
  • Knowledge of and experience with relevant transition to the world of work programmes;
  • Computer Literacy: MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access/Database, Internet, email.

The Academic Coordinator: Undergraduate Studies will work with the Learning and Teaching Specialist in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, academic departments, and other undergraduate student support divisions within UWC to establish a support structure that will enable Mastercard Foundation Scholars to succeed throughout their studies at UWC.
 
Accountable to the Director: Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and reporting to the Program Director and the Learning and Teaching Specialist in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, the responsibilities of the Academic Coordinator: Undergraduate Studies will include the following:
  • Design and implement a year–round academic support programme for undergraduate Mastercard Foundation Scholars;
  • Raise awareness of academic support programmes (e.g. writing workshops) and other related opportunities at UWC and facilitate the participation of Mastercard Foundation Scholars in these programmes;

  • Participate in the annual on-boarding programme for new undergraduate Mastercard Foundation Scholars at UWC;
  • Ensure the smooth running of academic administrative services that support the undergraduate Mastercard Foundation Scholars at UWC.

Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas
The University of the Western Cape Library Services’ vision is to be a strategic partner recognised for our excellence in innovative and relevant library services. 

The primary role of the Library Assistant is to support library learning, teaching and research activities, particularly those related to open science, virtual reference and user services.
Main duties and responsibilities include: 
  • Perform library user services duties i.e. Circulation; Short loans; ILL etc.
  • Perform basic cataloguing & databases searches
  • Provide support to research services 
  • Perform virtual & in-person reference services
  • Collection development and maintenance
  • Assist and participate in Library marketing and other projects.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements (Qualification and Experience)
  • A Bachelor of Library & Information Science or an equivalent library qualification
  • One year’s working experience in a library, preferably academic or research setting
Required competencies (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes): 
  • Experience with user services
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Good knowledge of MS 365 Office
  • Knowledge of library management systems and databases 
  • Exposure to open science activities
