Duties and responsibilities:
•    Pursue an active best practice-informed scholarship of teaching and learning in quantity surveying, property, and construction management areas (undergraduate and postgraduate) depending on the level.
•    Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students (depending on the level).
•    Mentor colleagues and students (depending on the level).
•    Design, develop and implement new programmes and / or changes in existing programmes.
•    Compile construction management, quantity surveying, project management and/ or property studies accreditation documentation in consultation with the Academic Departmental Head.
•    Conduct sustained research of national and international significance and deliver conference papers and publish articles.
•    Develop and maintain links with other tertiary institutions, professional bodies, student alumni and industry stakeholders.
•    Co-ordinate department research (depending on the level).
•    Develop research grant proposals and secure research funding.
•    Develop, improve, and market the construction management, quantity surveying, project management and property studies programmes.
•    Undertake university engaged scholarly activities.
•    Participate in departmental academic administrative tasks.
•    Serve and actively participate on university and faculty committees.
•    Represent the department on various platforms and use one’s knowledge and experience to bolster the profile and brand of the department, faculty, and the university.
 
Inherent Job Requirements:
Lecturer
•    A PhD on NQF Level 10 in Property/Construction Management/Construction Economics & Management/ Quantity Surveying, underpinned by an undergraduate degree in any of these disciplines (for a permanent appointment) 
or
•    Master’s degree on NQF Level 9 in Property/Construction Management/Construction Economics & Management/Quantity Surveying, underpinned by an undergraduate degree in any of these disciplines (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Property/Construction Management/Construction Economics & Management/Quantity Surveying MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position). 
•    Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
•    Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
•    At least 1 research publication in a peer reviewed conference proceedings or journal.
•    A good academic record.
Senior Lecturer
•    PhD on NQF Level 10 in Property/Construction Management/Construction Economics & Management/ Quantity Surveying, underpinned by an undergraduate degree in any of these disciplines.
•    Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
•    Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
•    An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
•    Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s degree students.
•    A proven research record of relevant publication/s in peer reviewed national and international accredited scientific journals. 
•    Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.
 
Recommendations:
•    Preference will be given to PhD holders.
•    Experience in successful programme accreditation management. 
•    Experience in research conference organisation.
•    Ability to generate external research income.
•    Registration with relevant professional bodies or ability to demonstrate that registration can be achieved with reasonable time.
•    Experience in scholarly engagements such as industry or community service and editorial roles in journals.
•    Awareness of technological, environmental, socioeconomic and health and safety issues in the built environment sector and the role of the university in addressing such.

Description
The Office for International Affairs (OIA) serves as the principal point of engagement between the UFS and its international partners. The principal purpose of the OIA is, therefore, to enable internationalisation at the UFS. The directorate promotes and supports the internationalisation agenda of the UFS, in particular the identification and promotion of and engagement with international strategic partners. The office also provides administrative advice and support to international staff and students at the UFS, including providing assistance and specialised administrative support to visiting academics, fellows, and students.

Policy and guideline development
•    Develop and review policies relevant to postgraduate education at the University of the Free State.

•    Respond to the policy documents and draft proposals and reports relating to postgraduate studies from the Department of Higher Education and Training.
General administration
•    Manage tuition fee funding and applications of postgraduate students effectively at the University of the Free State.
•    Manage the human resources needs of the Centre for Graduate Support effectively.
•    Manage the operational funds for the Centre for Graduate Support effectively. 
•    Manage the research component of the University Capacity Development Grant for the University of the Free State effectively.

•    Quality Assurance Management:
o    Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the management system and ensure all staff comply with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Good Manufacturer Practice (GMP) for the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA).
o    Provide guidance to the Management of the South African National Control Laboratory for Biological Products (SANCLBP) on policies and planning in respect of the quality management system.
o    Manage the competency profiles and training of all staff according to ISO/IEC 17025:2017and GMP requirements including management of training plans and training records. 
o    Provide guidance to management and assuring compliance with all aspects of documentation and data control and security.
o    Manage and perform internal technical and management audits of the entire system. 
o    Manage and coordinate external audits by WHO, SAHPRA, and SANAS (South African National Accreditation system), to ensure compliance with requirements. 
o    Make recommendations to SANCLBP management.
o    Evaluate external suppliers to the SANCLBP to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025:2017, and GMP requirements. 
o    Perform audits of suppliers when necessary.
o    Plan and coordinate the annual Management review meeting and generate the minutes/report, action plans, improvements, risks, and new objectives.
o    Review and update the SANCLBP Quality Manual (QM) in compliance with 1SO/IEC 17025:2017 and the Site Master file in compliance with SAHPRA requirements. 
o    Compile SAHPRA documentation as required.
o    Review, update and distribute all Quality Management System documentation to reflect laboratory procedures and manage the archiving system of all records and documentation.
o    Manage, track, and monitor the clearance of non-conformances within the laboratory. 
o    Analyse and perform trend analysis thereof and report to the weekly laboratory.
o    Manage, track, and monitor the planned deviations, changes implemented, and improvements within the laboratory.

o    Oversee and monitor all health and safety (H&S) activities according to the laboratory's policy and procedures including, H&S meetings, H&S training, safety inspections, fire drills, biological and chemical waste, pest control, and maintenance of safety equipment and first aid accessories.
•    Training and Development:
o    Train new staff on the quality management system.
o    Identify the needs obtained from conducting internal audits and from non-conformances for on-the-job training and continuing education of staff on quality issues with regards to 1SO/IEC 17025:2017, GMP, and WHO requirements.
o    Identify the needs for on-the-job training and continuing education of allocated staff.
•    People Management:
o    Train, supervise and manage performance of the QA /H&S officer.

Inherent Job requirements:

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Make photocopies of materials, as required by staff in the School of Accountancy.
  • Scan documents, as required by staff in the School of Accountancy.
  • Assist the School’s admin staff with filing duties.
  •  Manage the Reception Area, when needed, including the handling of telephone calls, accepting and directing visitors.
  • Sort test and exam scripts and assist with other aspects of assessment mark administration.
  • Provide administrative assistance for the school’s marketing / student recruitment initiatives.
  •  Perform general administration duties, as required by the line manager.
Inherent requirements:
  •     Relevant tertiary qualification on NQF Level 7.
 
The following criteria apply to the selection of candidates:
  •  Have not participated in any learnership / internship programme.
  • Willing to sign an internship agreement with the UFS.
  • Not studying full-time/ classes must be after normal working hours.
  • No formal work experience.

Duties and responsibilities:
•    Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Natural Sciences Education mainly and/or Biological Sciences Education modules. 
•    Participate in the Work Integrated Learning programme of the Faculty (Teaching Practice). 
•    Ensure active involvement in research activities of Faculty. 
•    Contribute to curriculum development in the field of Natural Sciences Education specifically and Education generally. 
•    Supervise and provide consultation sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

•    Contribute to leadership and administrative tasks related to the Faculty. 
 
Inherent Job Requirements
Senior Lecturer
•    A relevant PhD with Science Education and/ or Biology Education on NQF Level 10.
•    Candidates should submit an abstract of their thesis to indicate relevance to Science Education and/ or Biological Sciences Education specifically.
•    A formal teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent) with sciences as a major.
•    A minimum of five (5) years` relevant working experience with at least three (3) years in a higher education or research and development environment.
•    Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
•    Proven experience in supervision of graduated honours`, master’s and /or doctoral students.
•    A proven recent research record of publications in national and international accredited journals.
•    Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.
