  • PhD in the field of Animal Nutrition 
  • At least ten (10) years for Professor / seven (07) years for Associate Professor/ five (05) years for Senior Lecturer relevant research, and teaching experience at tertiary institution(s) 
  • Record of lecturing Ruminant and Non- Ruminants Nutrition modules/courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels 
  • Evidence of postgraduate students (Honours, Master and PhD) supervision and publications in SAPSE journals. 
  • Evidence of the ability to establish the research collaborations and raise research funds. 
  • Evidence of community engagement activities in animal production related projects

Duties and Responsibilities: 
The successful candidate will be expected to: 
  • Teach the Ruminant and Non- Ruminants Nutrition modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 
  • Supervise postgraduate students on your own funded research projects. 
  • Attend and read conference papers and publish in subsidy earning conference proceeding, journal and/or books. 
  • Participate in departmental research and third-stream income generating projects.

  • A Master’s degree in Animal Science with traceable knowledge in Animal Physiology.

  • Ability to teach Animal Anatomy and Animal Physiology modules at undergraduate level. 
  • Evidence of at least two (02) publication in a peer reviewed DHET journals listed journals. 
  • Evidence of both national or international conferences/congress attendance and presentation of oral papers. 
  • Proven ability to supervise research projects at undergraduate and honours level. 
  • Evidence of community engagement activities. 
  • Applicants who are registered with a professional body (such as SASAS, SACNASP etc). 
  • PhD candidates in Animal Physiology have an added advantage.

  • A three-year Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing degree.

  • Traceable experience in interaction with smallholder farmers at a University or reputable organization (e.g. Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development).

  • Evidence of the ability to establish the research collaborations and raise research funds (third stream income) 
  • Experience of involvement in community engagement / Outreach or Evidence of involvement in agricultural development /extension related projects or programmes.

  • Ability to teach plant breeding and genetics, biometry/statistics and plant propagation modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels 
  • Evidence of postgraduate supervision (Honours, Master and PhD) and research publications in DHET-accredited journals,

SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER: APPLIED MATHEMATICS (01 POSITION) 
 
Qualification and requirements: 
  • Doctoral qualification in Applied Mathematics; 
  • At least 5 years for Senior Lecturer or 03 years for Lecturer of teaching experience at tertiary level; 
  • Proven research record and DHET accredited publications; 
  • Successful record of supervision at postgraduate level; 
  • Proven ability to provide academic leadership; 
  • Appropriate administrative experience; 
  • Knowledge of and experience in various mathematical packages. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
The successful candidates will be expected to: 
  • Teaching courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; 
  • Conduct, publish and promote research in area of expertise; 
  • Supervise postgraduate projects in the field of Applied Mathematics; 
  • Engage in community outreach programmes; 
  • Contribute to departmental and school administration. 
 
The following will be added advantages: 
  • Proven research record and teaching in Numerical Analysis, Mathematical Biology, Dynamical systems, and Differential Equations; 
  • Proven record of attracting externally-funded research grants; 
  • NRF rating.

​DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND SANITATION 

 
SENIOR LECTURER: WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT 
 
Qualification and requirements: 
  • PhD in the field of Water Resource Management. 
  • At least more than five (05) years’ teaching, with relevant research and administrative experience at tertiary institution (s). 
  • Evidence of at least four (04) publications in DHET-accredited journals, and membership of relevant professional bodies. 
  • Evidence of national or international conferences/congresses attendance and presentation of oral papers. 
  • Proven ability to supervise research projects at fourth and postgraduate levels (Honours). 
  • Evidence of the ability to establish the research collaborations and raise research funds for third stream income. 
  • Evidence of community engagement activities. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
The successful candidate will be expected to: 
  • Teach undergraduate modules; Water Resource Management or Integrated Water Resources Planning 
  • Prepare and develop learning and assessment materials according Problem Based Learning (PBL) principle. 
  • Supervise students on own funded research projects. 
  • Attend and read conference papers and publish in subsidy earning conference proceeding, journal and/or books. 
  • Participate in departmental research and third stream income generating projects. 
  • Develop funded proposal for community engagement project and participate in departmental existing projects. 
  • Perform administrative and managerial duties as allocated by the Head of the Department.
