In the quest to standardize it’s corporate and brand identity, the University of Limpopo (UL) is looking for a marketing and brand specialist to become set up and head its Corporate Brand Office. This Unit - in the Department of Marketing and Communication - shall be responsible for UL's corporate merchandise (including market research, design, ordering and sales), for developing and enforcing corporate identity guidelines, content marketing, printing and reprographics, publications, the University website and other digital platforms. 
 
Requirements:
• National diploma in Finance / Accounting or relevant related qualification 
• Excellent financial reporting skills. 
• Exceptional management accounting skills. 
• Supply chain management skills. 
• Impeccable ethical standards and good governance track record. 
• Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. 
• 5 years of relevant supervisory or management experience with a demonstrable track record of preparing and managing budgets, as well as creating systems and processes. 
• Registration with the relevant professional body/bodies, a post-graduate qualification in finance or knowledge of the higher education sector would be beneficial 
 
Duties and responsibilities: 
• Establishing, planning and managing the daily operations of the Unit 
• Organising the different Units of the Department of Marketing and Communication to comply with regulatory and financial regulations to ensure a clean audit of the Department while ensuring the ability of the Department to deliver on its strategy in keeping with Strategy of the University 
• Setting up systems and processes to ensure compliance while maintaining a good reputation with suppliers by processing their payments promptly. 
• Preparing and managing budgets with/for the different units of the departments, creating reporting templates and reporting accordingly. 
• creating and maintaining an asset register of the departments
• Establishing and leading a finance and compliance committee of the department and preparing reports in concert with the director and the executive director.

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SERVICES (LIS) 
ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN: ACQUISITIONS AND COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT – MONOGRAPHS AND ELECTRONIC RESOURCES (TWO POSTS) 
 
Requirements
• A degree in Librarianship or a degree in any field plus a Higher/Postgraduate diploma in Librarianship 
• A minimum of two years’ experience working in an academic library 
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Acquisitions and Collection development, monographs and electronic resources. 
• Proficiency in searching a wide range of bibliographic information resources including publisher’s databases and web pages 
• Proficiency using up-to-date technologies including word processing such as spreadsheet 
• Experience with the Sierra integrated library system, particularly Acquisitions Module 
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, organisational, time management, decision making, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills 
• Demonstrated supervisory, team building and customer focus skills and ability to prioritise tasks 
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently 
• Membership of a professional librarians’ association will be an advantage 
 
Key responsibilities 
• Manage and administer the library’s monographs budget and expenditure 
• Perform quality control and compile sectional reports 
• Generate bibliographic records for newly recommended purchased and donated books and help in maximising patron access to electronic books 
• Liaison between library book suppliers and UL internal departments 
 
Duties
• Manage, administer and oversee library monographs acquisitions process and the departmental monographs budget and expenditure. 
• Perform quality control, including year-end library system procedures 
• Facilitate and oversees the implementation, maintenance of policies and procedures with regards to the physical processing of library materials (ordering, receiving, paying etc.) 
• Ensures accurate and systematic generation of bibliographic and order records for newly recommended purchases and donated books and help in maximising access to electronic books. 
• Liaise between library book suppliers and University of Limpopo internal departments 
• Compile and consolidate departmental book budget and expenditure report 
• Coordinate and supervise Students assistants and student’s practicum in the section 
• Serve as liaison between the Acquisitions and Faculties Librarians 
• Compile statistical reports as needed 
• Assist in the shift supervision of the library on rotating nights and weekends 
• Participate in designing and maintaining sectional guides, Library newsletters, intranet pages and content for Library web page 
• Participate in collection development 
• Participate in planning, promoting, evaluating and implementing both sectional and programmes 
• Serve on behalf of the HOD when there is a need – on a rotational basis with an E-Resources Librarian 
• Perform LIS job-related duties as assigned, including offering a service at the Hospital Libraries and adhoc activities

DEPARTMENT OF TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OFFICE (TTO) 
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY COMMERCIALISATION OFFICER 
 
The Intellectual Property Commercialization Officer is a dynamic and strategic role responsible for driving the commercialization of intellectual property generated within the University of Limpopo, by working closely with university researchers across all faculties. Working collaboratively with the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and the UL Digital Hub, the incumbent would be required to create strong industry-academic relations that would be translated into contract research and utilization of IP emanating from University of Limpopo’s research and development activities by industry. Work closely with relevant provincial entities to create a vibrant knowledge economy for the province based on inventions, processes and services emanating from the University of Limpopo’s research and development. The incumbent would be required to establish spin-out and spin-off subsidiary companies, license IP for third stream income generation for the University. The incumbent shall report to the Manager Technology Transfer & UL Digital Hub. 
 
Qualifications and Experience 
• A master’s qualification (NQF 9) in science or law. 
• At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience, preferably in research management, business development, or project management. 
• Comprehensive knowledge of intellectual property laws and technology transfer processes. 
• Completion of at least one IP/ Technology Transfer training workshop 
• In depth understanding of the Intellectual Property Rights of Publicly Funded Research and Development Act (51 of 2008) and its Regulations 
• Experience working within a scientific or research environment. 
• Understanding of the South African innovation ecosystem and funding opportunities for technology transfer. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
• Collaborate with researchers, innovators, industry, provincial agencies within the economic cluster and stakeholders in the commercialization of potential innovative technologies. 
• Develop business cases for the commercialization of intellectual property. 
• Develop market analysis, financial projections, and strategic considerations to attract investment and support decision-making processes. 
• Identify funding opportunities for technology development and commercialization by engaging with researchers, industry partners, and funding agencies. 
• Lead the process of establishing IP spin-out companies, negotiation of license agreements, valuing IP, deal structuring and negotiations 
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the successful establishment of new entities.

The individual will form part of a dynamic team, responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision in Social Work. The incumbent will form part of the Social Work Department within the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanity 
 
Requirements for Lecturer 
• A master’s degree in social work. Possession of a PhD qualification in Social Work or studying towards it will be an added advantage. 
• A valid registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP). 
• A candidate who satisfies the requirements for appointment must comply with the Fit and Proper policy as prescribed by the SACSSP before assumption of duty. 
• At least two (2) years teaching experience at undergraduate level. 
• An assessor/moderator certificate will be an added advantage. A proven record of subsidy generating publications/articles in SAPSE accredited journals within the social work field will be an added advantage. 
• Knowledge of various fields of specialisation in social work, excellent communication and administrative skills.

• Teaching and Learning: Active participation in support of student mentorship programmes, involvement in teaching all modules, design and curriculum development, updating material in terms of national and international trends, evaluation of lectures, lecturers and course material, maintenance of discussion classes, identification of at risk students and linking them with available resources, and conducting discipline specific research 
• Research: Supervision of Master’s students, involvement in research processes, oversight and participation in project teams on research projects, participation in conferences, production of articles/books/chapters in books (measurable research outputs) 
• Academic citizenship: Involvement in community engagement

The incumbent will form part of the Social Work Department within the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities. 
 
Requirements for Professor 
• A PhD in Social Work. 
• A valid registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).

• At least 10 subsidy-generating publications/ articles in SAPSE accredited journals of which 5 should be within social work field.
