Applications are invited from qualified candidates with appropriate qualifications and experience for the position of postdoctoral research fellow (PDRF) in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, University of Fort Hare, East London Campus.
Eligibility Criteria
- A PhD in Social Work
- Areas of research should include but not limited to child protection, vulnerable children, early childhood, social work education.
- Show evidence of previous publications in these areas of research
- Applicants must have completed their doctoral degree within the last five years.
- Preference will be given to South African citizens.
- Grounded in qualitative research methodology.
- Ability to publish at least 2 units in DHET accredited journals.
- Successful candidate will be required to relocate to University of Fort Hare, East London campus
The annual stipend for this position is R300,000, which will be paid in four equal instalments. The appointment is for a 12-month period and will be renewed subject to the production of 2 Units in DHET accredited journals.

Entrepreneurship and Marketing (1 POST)
A full-time Postdoctoral Research fellowship position is available in the newly established Department of Business Innovations and Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management and Commerce. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be involved in research on entrepreneurship, micro entrepreneurship, small business, marketing, and microfinance. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to produce research outputs in accredited journals in the above-mentioned topics.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Hold a doctoral degree in Entrepreneurship, Management, Marketing or related disciplines obtained within the last three years.
- Be a South African citizen, Permanent Resident or International for the full-time Postdoctoral Research fellowship position.
- Preference will be given to female South African citizens or holders of South African Permanent Residence.
- A record of accredited research publications, commensurate with the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position.
- Postdoctoral fellowship renewals shall be in accordance with the postdoctoral research fellowship policy of the University of Fort Hare.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS / EXPECTATIONS:
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Produce a minimum of 2 Units per annum in accredited journals.
- Contribute to the research productivity of postgraduate students.
- Conduct innovative research and obtain evidenced-based empirical data on public value, ethical, capable and developmental state competencies and capacities, focusing on the theme; “Government capacity as a resource and inequality as a growing reality”.
VALUE OF THE FELLOWSHIP:
The value of the fellowship is R300 000 per annum, which will be paid in four equal instalments.
