The University of Fort Hare seeks to appoint VIP Protection Officers on a 6 months fixed term contract. As a VIP Protection Officer specializing in executive protection within the university, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and privacy of university executives and high-profile individuals. This role demands a high level of professionalism, discretion, and physical fitness, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will work closely with university administration, security personnel, and external law enforcement agencies to mitigate risks and provide a secure environment for the university's leadership.
Minimum requirements:
- Certification in VIP/Close Protection.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, and other relevant emergency medical procedures is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- PSIRA registered, Grade B.
- Firearm license with sound knowledge of policies and procedures and business purpose.
- At least 3 years’ experience in executive protection, law enforcement, the military, or a related field preferred.
Added Advantage:
- Strong physical fitness and self-defence skills are essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of security protocols, risk assessment methodologies, and emergency response procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide university executives with close protection.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop security plans for high-profile events, meetings, and travel arrangements involving VIPs.
- Monitor and assess potential threats and security vulnerabilities, utilizing surveillance techniques and security protocols.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, security breaches, and other critical incidents involving VIPs.
- Maintain clear and constant communication with university administration, security personnel, and relevant stakeholders to coordinate security efforts.
