FACULTY OF LAW
 
COORDINATORS - LLB EXTENDED PROGRAMME (12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
EAST LONDON CAMPUS
 
Applications are invited from appropriately qualified internal candidates to apply for the above-mentioned position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   
  • Bachelor Degree in Law, Commerce or Administration.
  • 3 years’ work experience in the Higher Education Sector as an Administrator or Coordinator.
  • Excellent knowledge of ITS, MS Word, MS C and PowerPoint.
 
Added advantages:
  • Masters degree in Law or Administration.
  • Project Management, budgeting, finance, reporting, monitoring and evaluation skills.
  • Advanced ICT end-user skills.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Coordinate the effective curriculum delivery, the achievement of programme goals, learning outcomes and the meeting of specific targets and benchmarks.
  • Innovate and lead the formulation of plans and strategies that respond to the developmental needs of students.
  • Effectively manage the ECP budget.
  • Consistently provide weekly, monthly, and annual reports to the Deputy Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Law in a manner that seeks to respond to the Vision, Mission and Values of the Faculty of Law.
  • Promote the professional development of staff to guarantee the provision of support to students enrolled for the LLB Extended Programme.`
  • Make clear, accurate and lucid weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans and related targets.
  • Organize regular meetings, seminars, and workshops for academic, support and student development.

The Planning and Quality Assurance Unit is seeking an experienced professional to play a leadership and management role in relation to Quality Assurance to fill the position of Manager: Quality Assurance.  Through adept academic operations and management, the Quality Assurance Manager will drive a holistic approach to quality enhancement across various aspects of our institution, including Institutional and National reviews, Programme Accreditation, Regulatory Compliance, Programme reviews and Departmental reviews both academic departments and support service departments.
 
Job Purpose:
The main functions would be to support Quality Assurance (QA) at UFH through managing reviews of academic and support departments, quality promotion, coordinating institutional reviews and programme approval processes, servicing university-wide quality assurance structures, and helping to monitor and improve the effectiveness of UFH’s Quality Assurance Management Systems. He or she will work closely with academic staff, faculties and academic administration structures and staff in the University, as well as with external regulatory bodies.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree (NQF Level 9).
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in quality assurance in higher education, with at least 3 years at a management level.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and facilitating programme accreditation of new programmes.
  • Policy formulation, strategy development, and procedure implementation experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Education and Training legislative frameworks.
  • Familiarity with regulatory affairs and academic quality assurance processes in higher education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level writing and analytical skills.
  • Report writing experience.
  • High level organisational skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret quantitative data.
 
Core responsibilities include:
  • Leading quality management, ensuring the alignment of programmes with accreditation, compliance, and certification requirements.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of the university’s PQM.
  • Overseeing the submission of proposals for new academic programmes to external bodies and ensuring alignment with national and institutional policies.
  • Assuring quality in regulatory submissions for programme accreditation and re-accreditation.
  • Facilitating programme articulation and new programme submissions within the faculties.
  • Overseeing external review processes across the university and managing UFH’s internal Academic and Departmental Review Processes.
  • Coordinating the processes of preparing for institutional reviews, developing institutional improvement plans, compiling progress reports and Monitor implementation of improvement plans.
  • Preparing for and participate in site visits.
  • Ensuring scheduled maintenance and review of programmes/academic departments/support services departments in line with Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) expectations.
  • Upholding compliance with regulatory standards and the Institutional Audit Framework.
  • Contributing to quality enhancement through profiling good practices and identifying areas for improvement in UFH’s QA policies, procedures and systems.
  • Staying updated on changes in higher education legislation and policy.
  • Compiling quarterly reports on the Quality Assurance activities for submission to internal structures such as Institutional Quality Assurance Committee and Senate.
  • Providing a professional service to university-wide Quality Assurance structures.
  • Liaising with national QA bodies and responding to requests for information on QA at UFH.
  • Fostering strong relationships with internal/external academics, industry experts, and service providers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Supporting institution functions and fulfil reasonable requests from management.
  • Overseeing the QA components of the Planning and Quality Assurance Unit’s website.
  • Promoting awareness amongst students of quality assurance.
