POST: LIFE SKILLS AND COMPUTER LITERACY LECTURER (PL1)

NATURE OF APPOINTMENT: PERMANENT (COUNCIL)
CENTRE: UMgungundlovu TVET College
 
REQUIREMENTS: A recognised National Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree with computer literacy as a major subject. A teaching qualification. Two years teaching experience. Knowledge of theory and practice in the relevant field. Must be registered with SACE. Computer literacy is highly recommended. Sound communication skills. Assessor/Moderator certificate will be an added advantage.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Undertake all teaching ad assessment functions within the NCV Mechatronics programme for the above-mentioned subject per post above. Facilitation/Teaching of an integrated theory and practical curriculum. Prepare and present lessons incompliance with the College annual academic plan. Assessments of learners as required by college and DHET policies. Records Keeping-Registers, Mark sheets, Learner Progress. Develop PoAs and PoEs as per ICASS instructions. Development of assessment tools as per ICASS instructions. Classroom management and data capturing. Stock control (consumables and non-consumables). Co-ordinate the procurement of the programmes training needs (consumables and equipment). Assist in setting up of workshops and or sim rooms. Assist the Senior Lecturer with day-to-day management duties, invigilation, relief and extra-curricular duties. Administer student on-line registration and career guidance. Assist students with WBE.

Requirements: National diploma in Electrical Engineering. Three (3) year qualification in teaching and specialization in specific subject field. Computer literate. Extensive knowledge and utilization of visual platforms. SACE Registered.Assessor/Moderator certificate will be an added advantage.
 
Responsibilities: Record keeping of student attendance. Compilation of student Portfolio of evidence (POE). Monthly reporting to supervisor. Quality assurance of all assessments pertaining to the subject they are responsible for. Ensure that integrated Continuous Assessments (ICASS) and integrated Summative Assessment Task (ISAT) of the subject you are responsible for at the College is implemented. Ensure that correct version of Subject Guidelines, Assessment Guidelines, Syllabi, and ISATs are utilized in the subject. Research and drive innovative ways to improve teaching and learning in the specific subject. Attend subject meetings cross campus/colleges meetings and workshops when required. Responsible and accountable for the recording, capturing and verification of the integrated Continuous Assessment (ICASS) and integrated Summative Assessment (ISAT) marks of the students, Work Schemes planning and implementation. Quality teaching and progress reports.

POST: FITTING AND TURNING LECTURER (PL1)

REQUIREMENTS: A National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant qualification specialising in fitting and Machining. Teaching qualificationTwo years of teaching experience.  Must be Trade Tested. Experience in teaching in a TVET sector NCV/R191. Must be registered with SACE. Knowledge of theory and practice in the relevant field. Assessor/Moderator certificate will be an added advantage.
 
RESPONSEBILITIES: Plan, set up and clean up the workshop. Set and administer assessments according to the stipulated guidelines by the department. Be enthusiastic and support all teaching and learning activities of the campus. management with all academic related activities. Assist where possible with repairs of workshop machinery. Safe keeping of all workshop equipment. Assist students with the work-based experience placements. Facilitate, assess and moderate internal and external assessments. Facilitation/Teaching of the integrated theory and practical curriculum. Assessments of learners as required by College policies. REQUIREMENTS: A Diploma in Business Studies. A professional teaching qualification. Valid registration with SACE. 05 years teaching/lecturing experience with at least 3 – 5 years academic supervisory experience. Extensive knowledge and understanding of the TVET landscape, sound knowledge of legislation governing post school education and curriculum delivery within the TVET Sector. Must be computer literate. Strong interpersonal communication (both verbal and written). Negotiation and problem-solving skills. Well-developed organizational, planning and management skills, with diversity and conflict management skills. Proficient in computer skills. A valid driver’s License.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Deputise the Campus Manager. Submit annual estimates of campus student support material needs (including consumables). Oversee registers of all textbook/tool allocations and check returned textbook/tools. Facilitate arrangements for the maintenance of equipment and/or workshops. Monitor the provision of resources appropriate to campus needs. Oversee the maintenance and development of workshops, simulation, practical rooms and equipment. Plan, prepare and deliver lessons. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Monitor and analyse lecturer and student attendance. Monitor performance and implementation of curriculum. Facilitate and monitor all policies that have an impact on teaching and learning. Provide academic support to Senior Lecturers, provide supervisory services to Senior lecturers. Maintain schemes of work, year plans and academic year plans and provide input on timetabling and lecturer resources. Assign responsibilities to Senior Lecturers. Provide monthly reports on all campus activities to the Campus Manager. Manage examinations and assessment processes in line with College and DHET policy and procedures. Conduct moderation of ICASS files in line with ICASS guidelines. Develop and implement academic strategies that will improve academic performance. Prepare and manage plans which also include Work Integrated Learning (WIL) for both student and lecturers. Manage and supervise assessment processes on campus including timeous marking of scripts, submission of marks, development of question papers, preparation of all ISAT and ICASS activities and mark sheets for lecturers. Supervise lecturers; manage and evaluate their performance in terms of Integrated Quality Management System and provide critical feedback in an objective manner. Conduct examination and ICASS training for Lecturers. Conduct student assemblies. Assist Lecturers with the development of PoEs & PoAs. Professional participation in meetings; workshops; official college functions; seminars; conferences; etc.
