SENIOR MANAGER Quality Assurance of Assessment: School Qualifications

Requirements
Master's degree with specialisation in an education-related field. A minimum of seven (7) years' management experience and seven (7) years' experience in the quality assurance and management of assessment of the National Senior Certificate. Additional Advantages and Skills: A PhD in education will be an added advantage. Envisaged for appointment to this senior management position is an individual with substantial and in-depth knowledge of the National Education and Training system and related issues, particularly in relation to large-scale national assessments and examinations, as well as demonstrating insight into a range of related aspects in education, such as teaching and learning, qualification and programme design, and education policy, both in South Africa and internationally. In addition, the individual must have experience in the management of and/or quality assurance of large-scale assessments. Knowledge and interest in pre-standardised testing would be a distinct advantage. The successful incumbent must be dynamic, conceptual, self-motivated, and self-managing. This position requires broad and in-depth knowledge of education and training systems, South African examination and assessment systems and the quality assurance thereof, and a thorough understanding of the qualifications that Umalusi certifies. In addition, well-developed conceptual and communication (verbal and written) skills and management skills are essential. It is critical that the individual demonstrates deep insight into the quality assurance of assessment of ALL education and training sectors that Umalusi quality assures, namely schooling, vocational education and training, and adult education and training. Creative leadership, effective management qualities, and the ability to work under pressure are essential, as is the ability to work with a range of stakeholders. The capacity to conduct independent research to guide policy development will be an added advantage.
Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to lead the management of all quality assurance processes for the national examinations and assessments for the qualifications that Umalusi certifies. Policy development, quality assurance and systemic evaluations of the assessment systems are central to this position. The incumbent must be able to translate policies into programmes and implementation strategies and is expected to provide convincing leadership and management of the Quality Assurance of Assessment (Schools) Unit while also contributing to the management of the organisation. The work also involves close cooperation and effective working with other units in the organisation. Liaison with the various assessment bodies (public and private), stakeholders, and the media is an essential part of the responsibilities. Manage and oversee the unit's strategic plan, risk and audit management. Manage and lead change management and training. Manage and develop staff. Management of the unit budget. Reporting on unit performance. Resource planning and management of staff (performance management) Undertake any other appropriate assignments that are allocated by the Executive Manager or CEO.

ASSISTANT MANAGER: ICT INFRASTRUCTURE AND USER SUPPORT (TECHNICIAN)

Requirements
Three-year post-matric qualification in ICT with three years (3) of relevant work experience as well as two years (2) of supervisory experience in Information and Communication Technology: Infrastructure and user support management. • 3 years of experience in the field of ICT infrastructure and user support management. • In possession of ICT industry certification such as MS Azure/MCSE/ MCITP, A+, N+, Security +, and ITIL, a minimum of three will be required • 3 years’ experience in ICT Service Management. • 3 years in ICT infrastructure Project administration and management.
Added Advantages: • Experience in cloud computing • Having more than three ICT industry certifications will be an added advantage. • Advanced competence in the M365 Office suite (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access) and other M365 apps like Intune, MS Teams, etc. • Sound knowledge of COBIT 5, ITIL, and ICT Governance frameworks. • Service-level agreement management will be an added advantage. • The successful candidate must have good communication skills, good customer relations skills, be adaptable, disciplined, self-confident, able to work independently and under pressure, and able to work with a diverse team.
Duties
To provide Local Area Network and Desktop support services. • Administration of Azure cloud environment. • To provide support to SITA transversal systems and projects. • To provide technical advice to Supply Chain Management and users on ICT equipment. • Provide support for desktops, notebooks, and mobile (Windows and Apple) devices • Monitor and perform health checks on the network. • Analyse and resolve technical problems on the network. • Administer the entire Microsoft Network Environment. • To assist in administering the Microsoft Active Directory and all related Systems and Services. • Assist in managing the Storage Area Network and maintenance of servers. • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems. • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment. • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.). • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule. Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders. • Develop and maintain networks in ways that optimize performance. • Ensure that the necessary network services are available to officials when required to perform their duties. • Provision of ICT helpdesk services by providing first-level and second-level support, tracking, routing, and redirecting incidents to correct resources and conveying resolutions to clients • Register incidents, classify and be able to prioritize; escalate unresolved queries to the next level of support. • Ensure that the ICT assets register of all ICT equipment is up to date.
