Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training is a statutory Quality Council which quality assures education provision in General and Further Education and Training. This body seeks to appoint suitable persons with the relevant qualifications and experience to the following posts. The Council intends to promote representivity through the filling of these posts.
MANAGER: EVALUATION AND ACCREDITATION (EVALUATION AND VERIFICATION)

Requirements: An Honours degree in Education with specialisation in assessment, curriculum, education management or education policy • A professional teaching qualification • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the education field with at least five (5) years at management level • At least five years’ recent experience in an environment offering the NSC/CAPS • Experience in the evaluation and accreditation of independent schools and/or private colleges • Experience in the private college / TVET sector will be an added advantage • Current registration with the South African Council for Educators • Valid drivers’ license
Duties
Competencies and skills: • In depth understanding of the South African Education landscape • Experience in developing strategic documents • Experience in policy drafting, maintenance and implementation • Presentation of good quality work • Self-managing, dynamic and self-motivated • Good interpersonal, planning, execution, project management, technical, facilitation, training, and co-ordination skills • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) • Leadership skills • Management of financial and human resources • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills Duties: • Draw up and oversee implementation of the annual sub-unit plan and budget, and report on expenditure and progress • Accurate reporting on performance information (APP) • Manage sub-unit operations and compliance to legal and regulatory requirements • Ensure the smooth running of the Accreditation process • Develop and quality assure accreditation, improvement, Extension of Scope and appeal reports for timeous submission to the Accreditation Committee of Council (ACC) • Oversee the continued maintenance and improvement of the quality assurance of independent schools and private colleges • Manage the conduct of and reporting on site visits • Build stakeholder relationships • Coordinate activities for meetings with Department of Basic Education and Provincial Education Department officials • Build constructive and positive relationships with all stakeholders and constituencies and promote quality through provider forums, information sessions, etc. • Induct all new staff in the sub-unit • Supervise the work of, coach and mentor the sub-unit staff and independent contract workers to ensure building of internal capacity and capability to effectively execute sub-unit objectives • Develop a draft framework for the quality assurance of the offering of new qualifications and modes of offering of qualifications on the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications Sub-framework • Perform other tasks delegated by the Senior Manager.
