The Faculty of ICT requires the services of Part-time lecturers at eMalahleni Campus for the following subjects for the academic period Semester 1 of 2024. 
 
Subject(s)
 CAPF05X Communication for Academic Purposes
 
Minimum Requirements: 
Academic qualifications: 
 Relevant BTech / Honours / PGDip in Language Practice for Junior Lecturer or Masters for Lecturer.
 
Experience: 
 1 Year teaching experience in a tertiary environment will be recommended.
 Knowledge of the use of ITS will be an advantage.
 Excellence written, oral and electronic communication skills.
 Good command of the subject area
 
Key performance areas/Core functions: 
  • Teaching of subjects in the ICT Faculty at eMalahleni Campus.
  • Participating in curriculum development.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to teaching and learning and other functions of an academic Department at a University of Technology.
  • Involvement in Community engagement projects of the Department
 
Key performance areas/Core functions: 
  • Teaching of subjects in the ICT Faculty at eMalahleni Campus.
  • Participating in curriculum development.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to teaching and learning and other functions of an academic Department at a University of Technology.
  • Involvement in Community engagement projects of the Department.
  • Involvement in specific Departmental activities e.g., such as presentation days, Departmental meetings, Open days, Registration, Orientation etc.
  • Lecturing duties:  Lecturing, Invigilating, and Marking of Scripts, Processing of Marks.
  • Any other duty assigned by the Academic Manager.

The Campus Protection Services department at the eMalahleni campus has three seasonal card operator positions for the 2024 January registration period and thereafter when a need exists.
 
Key performance areas/Core functions:
  • To provide an effective service of issuing access cards to staff and students
  • Responsible for the production of access/ID cards. 
  • Responsible for loading of cards and consumables on the printers. 
  • Act as personal interface between students/staff and CPS card production unit of department. 
  • Provide timeous reports on the stock levels and submit request for replenishment of card and consumables. 
  • Attend and plan for block registration requests. 
  • Maintenance of the filing system 
 
Minimum requirements:
1. Academic qualifications:
  • Grade 12
 
2. Experience:
  • 1-year relevant experience

Critical Performance Areas
 
Circulation/Loan of Information Services
  • Check out information resources.
  • Check in of information resources.
  • Renewal of loan of information resources
  • Payment of fines
  • Hold check-out information resources.
 
Information Services
  • Answer basic information queries of library clients.
  • Reroute advance information queries of library.
 
Subsidiary responsibilities
  • Routing of damaged information resources.
  • Shelving and shelf - reading
  • Report to supervisor on all activities
 
Minimum Requirements
  • A National Senior Certificate or Equivalent (NQF Level 4)
  • Previous experience in the circulation of information resources will be an advantage.
 
Knowledge and Skills
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be computer literate. 
  • Must be prepared to work for at least 6 hours per night/day on rotation shift basis; Monday – Thursday (08h00 – 22h00) and Saturdays (09h00- 17h00)

  • Previous marking experience at the tertiary education institution will be an added advantage.
