The University is looking for a proven academic leader for the position of Executive Dean in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment on a 5-year fixed-term contract basis. The Executive Dean is the head of the Faculty responsible for overall strategic management and its visionary leadership. The candidate should have the qualifications, relevant professional affiliations, experience, leadership skills and the requisite, temperament to provide transformative leadership in line with the University’s strategic objectives. The Executive Dean will, among other things, coordinate the development of the Faculty strategic plan, manage Faculty finances, and oversee staff performance, recruitment, development and retention. He/she will be expected to coordinate the marketing and recruitment strategy of the Faculty and maintain the quality of all its activities. 
 
This position is part of the University’s Institutional Management Committee and will report to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching, Learning and Technology 
Minimum Qualifications: 
• A Doctorate or equivalent qualification in any Engineering or Built Environment discipline. 
 
Minimum Requirements 
• At least five (5) years experience as HOD, Assistant Dean, Director, or Senior Manager in a University or related environment. 
• Applicants should meet the Associate or Full Professor requirements of TUT. 
• Registration with the ECSA or another relevant professional body and an NRF rating will be an added advantage.

• A distinguished record of teaching, scholarship and research excellence. 
• The ability to articulate, develop and implement a compelling vision for the Faculty 
• A track record of developing and maintaining relationships with business and industry.

PART-TIME LECTURING (X2)
ICT 1st Years and Foundation Unit
Faculty of ICT
Soshanguve South Campus

The ICT 1st Year and Foundation Unit requires the service of x2 Part-time lecturers at the Soshanguve South Campus. 
 
To provide lecturing services for the following content: 
  • Computational Mathematics and/or Programming in Java. 
 
Key performance areas/Core functions: 
  • To provide remedial lecturing duties for the extended/ foundation curriculum in the areas of communication and languages in line with the faculty’s teaching strategy. 
  • Other lecturing duties e.g. invigilating, marking scripts, processing marks, on learning management system, assess/ moderate, online material development, and video development. 
  • Attend the Unit's activities, such as meetings, mentorship, tutorship, panel interviews, workshops, and events. 
  • Establish/ participate in ICT-related community engagement project(s). 
  • Other relevant academic duties as required by the unit/academic manager e.g. curriculum review and development, module coordination, and content development. 
 
Minimum requirements: 
Academic qualifications: 
A relevant Masters Degree in Computing/ Mathematics is the minimum requirement but, if suitable candidates with a Master’s degree cannot be found, candidates with a PGDip/Hons Degree/Bachelor of Technology degrees with Maths and/or Programming in Java will be considered.
 
Experience:
  • 3 years lecturing experience in Computational Mathematics and/or Programming but if sufficient numbers of suitable candidates with 3 years teaching experience cannot be found, candidates with less experience will be considered. 
  • Experience in foundation-level teaching is a strong recommendation. 
  • Attributes critical to the FYFU Unit Optimistic person who embraces innovation, the 4+ Industrial Revolution, and collaborates with other national/international talents in the 21st-century university landscape. 
  • Act with integrity, respect, and accountability.

• have experience in creating and managing team-oriented tasks.

• A Master’s Degree in Education (Expertise in Mathematics) 
 
Experience:
• Three (3) years teaching experience in Higher Institution 
• Knowledge in the area of the above-mentioned subjects: Mathematics for Intermediate Phase.

• Full proficiency in English is a prerequisite.
