The Department of Visual Communication: Commercial Photography in the Faculty of Arts and Design has a permanent position for a lecturer at Arts Campus.
Core Functions:
- Be multi-skilled in the discipline of photography and teach any of the photography modules on first to third year level.
- Supervision and assessment of students on first to third year level.
- Be responsible for administrative tasks relating to teaching and learning.
- Be involved in Departmental and Faculty related activities, committees and projects.
- Be responsible for research and publishing in accredited journals.
- Compile study guides, module content and set of examination papers.
- First year co-ordination, subject meetings and planning together with other related responsibilities.
- Industry liaison and visits, community service and the development of new study material will also be required.
- Integrate new technologies and trends into the section.
Minimum requirements:
- A masters degree in photography.
- An undergraduate qualification specializing in the discipline of photography.
Minimum Experience:
- Three years of teaching experience at tertiary level.
- Must be skilled and knowledgeable in commercial photography with at least three years of industry experience.
Other requirements:
- Candidates should be able to show a professional photographic portfolio of recent work.
- Advanced computer literacy in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Microsoft Office, Google Drive and related applications and relevant learning management software (LMS) is essential.
