The Faculty of Science at the Department of Environmental, Water and Earth Sciences requires services of Tutors for day classes at the Pretoria Campus.
Key performance areas
- Assist undergraduate students on environmental sciences or geology or water sciences modules listed below.
- Assist in preparation of reagents for undergraduate practical class and field trips.
Minimum Requirements:
Academic Qualifications
- Postgraduate students with at least a relevant B-Tech degree/ Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Diploma registered students.
- Tutors should ideally be Postgraduate students who are academically excelled in their undergraduate studies. Depending on the nature of the tutorship, a Master’s or Doctoral student may be appointed.
- Academic record with major subjects
- Experience as a Tutor will be a recommendation.
- Proficiency in Ms Office and other computer programmes.
- Full proficiency in English is a prerequisite.
Additional Information
- Preference will be given to South African students.
- Appointment for a maximum of Three (3) Hours per week
- The appointment is for a year

- B-Tech/ Honours Degree in Health Sciences.
- An additional qualification in Higher Education will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2 Years Curriculum Development (HEQSF).
- Minimum 1 Year Professional Council Audits.

Key performance areas
- Preparing and conducting theory and lectures.
- Advanced presentation (online and face-to-face) skills.
- Proven ability in using teaching technology (including myTUTor).
- Setting and marking of all assessments.
- Participating in programme and subject meetings.
- General administration such as capturing test and assignment marks, uploading documents on myTUTor.
- Consultation and interaction with industry where necessary
- Student consultation.
Minimum Requirements:
Academic Qualifications
- M Tech or similar Master’s degree relating to any of the fields below.
- Study record with major subjects.
- At least three years teaching and/or research experience at a tertiary institution will be required and/or industry related experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office computer programs.
- Full proficiency in English reading, writing, and communicating is a prerequisite.
- Registration with the Health and Professional Council of South Africa as graduate clinical
- Completion of a TUT License to Teach programme will be compulsory.

3 X Research Student Assistants (19 hours)
Core functions:
- Assist the department with research administration.
- Attend to research inquiries from the departments and researchers.
- Receive submissions from the departments.
- Prepare agenda for the DRC
- Distribute minutes of the DRC
- Provide information to students and researchers.
- Assist the DRC chairperson with admin-related duties that they may be assigned.
- Liaise with the Research Office.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have a Master’s degree and registered for Doctoral degree qualification in 2023
- Full proficiency in English is a prerequisite.
