Minimum Requirements:
Academic qualifications:
▪ Relevant Computer Science/Software Development Master’s degree.
▪ Candidates with Honours/BTech in Computer Science/Software Development, or Postgraduate Diplomas can be considered if we do not find enough suitable candidates with Master’s degrees.
Experience:
▪ 3 years’ relevant teaching experience in Teaching and/or 3 years’ experience in industry
▪ Knowledge of the use of ITS will be an advantage.
▪ Excellence in written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
▪ Good command of the subject area.
Key performance areas/Core functions:
▪ Teaching of subjects in the ICT Faculty at eMalahleni Campus.
▪ Participating in curriculum development.
▪ Perform administrative tasks related to teaching and learning and other functions of an academic department at a University of Technology.
▪ Involvement in community engagement projects of the department.
▪ Involvement in specific departmental activities e.g., such as presentation days, Departmental meetings, Open days, Registration, Orientation etc.
▪ Lecturing duties: Lecturing, Invigilating, and Marking of Scripts, Processing of Marks.
▪ Any other duty assigned by the Academic Manager.

The Faculty of Economics and Finance, Ga-Rankuwa Campus, requires the services of part- time lecturers for teaching in the fields of Applied Languages and Communication Skills at their Ga-Rankuwa Campus for Semester 1 of 2025.
Preference will be given to qualifying South Africans, including persons with disability and women.
Please note that this part-time appointment will be for lecturing during the week and on Saturdays from 1 July-31 December, 2025.
INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants are required to submit, together with the CVs, a standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified copies of qualifications and Identity Document. Further note that candidates may be expected to make a presentation on the topic that will be provided to shortlisted candidates. Existing part-time staff that already has a 19-hour part-time appointment in the university cannot be considered for the position.
Critical Performance Areas
1. Lecturing English Communication skills and English for Academic Purposes to First Year, Foundation and Extended curricula students.
2. Develop learning material and integrate appropriate technology in teaching and learning.
3. Assess learning outcomes using appropriate assessment methods in line with the TUT Policy on Assessment.
4. Capture assessment marks on ITS, track and monitor at-risk students.
5. Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Minimum qualifications:
1. Academic Qualifications:
1. The minimum academic requirement for lectureship is a Master’s Degree (NQF 9) in English/Language practice/integrated communication or an equivalent qualification in a language/communication related field.
2. Experience
1. Two years’ teaching experience at a university.
2. Practical knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning related to the acquisition of Academic and Occupational English/Communication.
