The Office of the Executive Dean in the Faculty of Management Sciences requires the services of a Service Staff Supervisor for the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development under its Department of Management & Entrepreneurship. 
Project: RTMC – RTTA Canteen, Boekenhoutskloof Campus 
Duration: 46 Weeks 
 
Main Purpose: The Service Staff Supervisor manages service operations and ensures efficient and courteous customer service. This role supervises the team, maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the service areas, and ensures that meal service aligns with the canteen’s high standards. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills to ensure a positive customer experience. 
 
Critical Performance Areas: 
Customer Service Management: Oversee staff to deliver efficient, courteous, and timely service. 
Staff Training and Supervision: Conduct training sessions, manage staff schedules, and monitor performance. 
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure staff follow health and safety protocols, including hygiene and safe food handling. 
Inventory and Supply Monitoring: Track and manage supplies, reporting shortages and restocking as needed. 
Waste Control: Monitor portion control and serving practices to reduce waste. 
Quality Control: Ensure all food presentation in the serving area meets canteen standards. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
1. Academic Qualification:
Diploma in Hospitality Management (NQF level 6) or Diploma in Food Operations Management (NQF level 6). 
 
2. Experience: 
Two years in the food service or hospitality industry.
 
Knowledge:
• Service Standards: Familiarity with food service standards and customer service protocols. 
• Health and Safety: Understanding health and safety regulations in food handling and serving. 
 
Skills

Project: RTMC – RTTA Boekenhoutskloof Campus Catering 
Duration: 46 Weeks 
 
Main Purpose: The Chef is vital in preparing and presenting meals within the RTMC Canteen, ensuring consistency and quality for large-scale food service. Working closely with the Canteen Manager, the Chef will oversee meal preparation and portion control and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills and experience in high-volume food production. 
 
Critical Performance Areas: 
Food Preparation: Prepare, cook, and present meals according to established recipes and standards, ensuring timely service. 
Quality Assurance: Maintain consistency in flavour, portion sizes, and meal presentation. 
Health and Safety Compliance: Follow food safety and hygiene regulations, including safe handling and storage practices. 
Inventory Support: Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages to ensure sufficient stock for daily production. 
Waste Control: Implement portion control and efficient cooking practices to minimise food wastage.

Project: RTMC Canteen, Boekenhoutskloof Campus

Main Purpose: The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and completion of the RTMC Canteen project. This includes defining project objectives, ensuring efficient operations, managing resources, and maintaining high standards in compliance, quality, and financial management. Reporting to the Head of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development. 
 
Critical Performance Areas: 
1. Strategic Planning and Project Management: 
o Develop and execute a comprehensive project plan for the RTMC Canteen, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management. 
o Establish and communicate project objectives, ensuring alignment with the goals of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development. 
o Oversee the coordination of all units involved in the project, including kitchen operations, compliance, quality control, and inventory. 
 
2. Financial and Budget Oversight: 
o Create and manage the project budget, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities. 
o Ensure financial compliance and prepare regular budget reports for the Head of TUT CED. 
o Evaluate financial performance and implement strategies to maintain budget adherence and optimise profitability. 
 
3. Operational Leadership and Team Management: 
o Led the canteen management team, including the Canteen Manager, Inventory Supervisor, Compliance Officer, and Quality Control Inspector, to ensure efficient and effective project execution. 
o Provide guidance and support to unit supervisors, setting clear expectations and maintaining high-performance standards. 
o Conduct regular meetings with team members to monitor progress, resolve issues, and adjust plans as necessary. 
 
4. Compliance and Regulatory Management: 
o Ensure all operations adhere to relevant health, safety, and food safety regulations, including HACCP and other legislative requirements. 
o Oversee the development and implementation of compliance protocols and conduct regular audits to ensure continuous adherence. 
o Liaise with the Compliance Officer to promptly and proactively address regulatory issues. 
 
5. Quality Assurance and Customer Satisfaction: 
o Establish and enforce quality standards for all food services, focusing on consistency, presentation, and customer satisfaction. 
o Implement feedback systems to continuously improve service quality and meet the needs of RTMC students. 
o Work closely with the Quality Control Inspector to conduct regular inspections and address quality concerns. 
 
6. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: 
o Serve as the primary point of contact for the project, maintaining open communication with the Head of TUT CED. 
o Prepare and present project progress reports, financial summaries, and performance assessments to the Head of TUT CED. 
o Foster collaborative relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other departments within TUT to support seamless project execution. 
 
7. Risk Management and Problem-Solving 
o Identify potential risks to project success, including operational, financial, and compliance-related risks, and develop mitigation strategies. 
o Proactively address project challenges, ensuring timely and effective solutions are implemented. 
o Continuously assess and refine project management practices to improve efficiency and outcomes. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
1. Academic Qualification: 
BTech Food & Beverage Management (NQF Level 7) 
2. Experience: 
Five years of experience in project management, preferably within a high-volume catering or hospitality environment, focusing on team leadership and operational oversight. 
Knowledge:
• Project Management: Knowledge of deep project planning, resource allocation, and scheduling. 
• Food Service Operations: Familiarity with high-volume food production, inventory control, and food safety practices.

Key performance areas/Core functions: 
• Offering classes in the above modules for Adult and Community Education and Training and Advance Diploma in Technical and Vocational Teaching. 
• Use digital tools for online teaching and learning in the Learning Management system. 
• Involvement in Teaching Practice for College base learning activities; 
• Involvement in Industry base learning activities; 
• Involvement in Research activities in the Department; 
• Engagement in community projects; 
• Participate in Departmental, Faculty and Institutional activities; 
• Responsible for administrative tasks relating to the module you applied for. 
 
Minimum requirements: 
1. Academic qualifications: 
• A Master’s Degree in Education with a relevant specialization or an equivalent qualification, such as an MTech in Education. 
 
2. Experience: 
• 3 years of teaching experience in Higher Education teaching Education related modules. 
• Experience and competence in the use of technology to manage and teach online classes is highly recommended. 
 
3. Registration with South African Council for Educators (SACE).
