The Department of Performing Arts in the Faculty of Arts and Design has a permanent position for an Associate Professor at the Arts Campus.
Core functions:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Teaching undergraduate courses, supervising postgraduate, Master’s and Doctoral candidates.
- Participating in students’ projects, departmental productions, and Work Integrated Learning (WIL), academic administration, community engagement activities.
- Capturing and processing marks and other administrative tasks relating to teaching and learning activities.
- Contributing actively to the research and publication profile of the department.
- Developing learning material aligned to undergraduate and postgraduate programs based on the new curriculum.
Requirements
- A doctorate degree NQF level 10 in the fields of Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre Arts and Design).
- Be a seasoned academic researcher.
- Hold professional skills in Performing Arts.
- Ability to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the Performing Arts industry.
Experience
- Extensive experience in teaching at tertiary institutional level (a minimum of 10 years).
- Proven record of supervision of Masters’ and Doctoral students.
- Proven track record of research publications in accredited journals.
- Evidence of attendance at local and international conferences.
- Membership or active involvement in national and/or international boards, societies, councils, etc. in the field of performing arts.
