LECTURER POSITION
Electrical Engineering, 
eMalahleni campus

The Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment has one (1) Permanent lecturer position to lecture Embedded Systems and Advance Embedded Systems at the eMalahleni Campus.
 
Critical Performance Areas
  • Presenting lectures and tutorials for the subjects mentioned above.
  • Setting of assessments, examination question papers and marking of scripts.
  • Keeping up-to-date subjects’ files for each subject taught.
  • Preparing practical activities for each subject and supervising and evaluating individual project work.
  • Be responsible for all general admin work related to the subjects, including updating study guides and lecturer materials on MyTUTor, and uploading assessment marks on ITS.
  • Quality teaching and learning with technology.
  • Implementing faculty’s teaching and learning strategy with evidence.
  • Ensuring that all students do lecturer’s assessments on myTUTor.
  • Ensuring that all allocated subjects adhere to assessment structure and time frames (submission of marks, moderators, and other related processes)
  • Motivating and reminding students to register (activate) their TUT4Life free email account.
  • Using TUT4Life as the default means of communication for allocated subjects.
  • Making all announcements regarding my subject(s) in class and myTUTor. If an announcement has not been posted to my group(s) on myTUTor, then an announcement is not formal.
  • Sending email reminders to all students at least three days before the deadline for projects and assignments, and test dates. Take note that myTUTor can be configured to do this automatically.       
 
Competencies
  • The candidate should have experience in a programming language similar to C/C++, sequential logic circuits,ATmega328P microcontroller and Proteus software. Experience in C/C++ itself will be very beneficial.
  • The candidate should have experience in the Embedded and Advance Embedded Systems field, including the basics of embedded and digital systems, microcontroller programming, and designing circuits containing microcontrollers and other components.
  • Experience in different networks, Bluetooth, Modbus, and other protocols would be of added advantage.
 
Requirements
  • A minimum Master’s (MEng/ MTech/ MScEng) degree in Electrical Engineering.
 
Experience
  • Must have at least three years of lecturing experience in an institution of higher learning, or at least three years of industry experience in the listed subjects
  • Experience with myTUTd2l (Brightspace) or other online content management systems will be advantageous.

The Department of Performing Arts in the Faculty of Arts and Design has a permanent position for an Associate Professor at the Arts Campus.
 
Core functions:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Teaching undergraduate courses, supervising postgraduate, Master’s and Doctoral candidates.
  • Participating in students’ projects, departmental productions, and Work Integrated Learning (WIL), academic administration, community engagement activities. 
  • Capturing and processing marks and other administrative tasks relating to teaching and learning activities.
  • Contributing actively to the research and publication profile of the department.
  • Developing learning material aligned to undergraduate and postgraduate programs based on the new curriculum.  
 
Requirements
  • A doctorate degree NQF level 10 in the fields of Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre Arts and Design).
  • Be a seasoned academic researcher.
  • Hold professional skills in Performing Arts.
  • Ability to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the Performing Arts industry.
 
Experience
  • Extensive experience in teaching at tertiary institutional level (a minimum of 10 years).
  • Proven record of supervision of Masters’ and Doctoral students.
  • Proven track record of research publications in accredited journals. 
  • Evidence of attendance at local and international conferences.
  • Membership or active involvement in national and/or international boards, societies, councils, etc. in the field of performing arts.

The Department of Auditing has a permanent position for a Lecturer at their Mbombela Campus.
 
Critical Performance Areas
  • Provide teaching and learning with the integration of technology as part of the teaching and learning strategy in the Diploma in Internal Auditing and the Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing as well as auditing service subjects to other qualifications.
  • To undertake research, teaching, and any other development opportunities needed for development as a well-rounded academic
  • Be responsible for administrative tasks related to, but not limited to, teaching and learning, such as marking of scripts, maintaining a subject portfolio file, capturing of marks and computation of semester marks.
  • Be actively involved in the departmental committees, activities and community projects.
  • Conduct research, including publishing in accredited journals.
  • Compile and maintain quality study guides, examination question papers and memorandums as well as subject files.
  • Liaise with the industry, advisory committee meetings, industry visits and other related activities.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • An Honours degree or Post-Graduate Diploma (NQF Level 8) in Internal Auditing/Auditing and a professional designation CA (SA) or CIA or CISA
  • A relevant Master’s degree (NQF Level 9)will be a strong recommendation
  • At least 3 years teaching experience in the relevant subject field, or at least three years relevant industry experience. Other discipline related work will be highly recommended.

  • Membership and involvement in the professional bodies of the discipline as well as professional registration is required

The Directorate: Human Resources & Transformation (Policy, Planning and Organisational Development) seeks to appoint an OD Practitioner (Project) on a three (03) Years Fixed-term contract basis to manage the Performance Management & Development System implementation project and OD-related interventions.
 
Key performance areas
 
Provide effective and administrative support to the Directorate
  • Assist with the implementation of PMDS throughout the institution and coordinating the implementation plan.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Four (4) years relevant qualification in Human Resources or related field and 3 years’ experience in Project management, PMDS, and or other related specialized HR projects.

Experience
 
  • Three (3) Years relevant experience level at middle management/Senior Administrator/Practitioner
 
Knowledge
