 The Department of Operations Management in the Faculty of Management Sciences has a permanent position for a Senior Lecturer at Pretoria Campus. 
 
Key performance areas/Core functions: 
• TLT Leadership including administration of study material and evaluation of lecturers 
• Compiling and writing report on data matrix 
• Administration of work integrated learning/practical work 
• To present lectures and assessment of students in related subjects 
• Conduct quality check of formative and summative/examination papers 
• To be an active participant in the research activities of the department especially in the field of Operation Management or Industrial Engineering. 
• Supervision of postgraduate study 
• Responsible for administrative tasks related to teaching and learning 
• Curriculum development and industry liaison 
• Responsible for and provide leadership in compiling and maintaining quality study guides, laboratory guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning material. 
• Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions. 
• Responsible for independent research and innovation projects and associate funding. 
• Ensuring that the capturing of marks is done (< 10 working days after date of evaluation). 
• Involvement in Departmental or individual community projects. 
• Updating of the electronic base system of the Faculty like myTutor Brightspace, and TUT4life. 
• Supervise special programme as may be assigned by the Head of Department. 
• A relevant Doctoral degree in Operations Management or Industrial 
 
Academic qualifications: 
• A relevant Doctoral degree in Operations Management or Industrial 
 
Minimum Experience: 
• A minimum five (5) years teaching and research, at tertiary level and/or industrial experience. 
• Working experience should indicate the following: (1) project (s) conducted, (2) application of operations management tools/techniques and (3) milestones achieved in these project(s). 
• A track record in publications of articles in accredited and non-accredited journals and conference attendance. 
• Supervision of master’s and Doctoral students

• 3 years of full -time relevant experience in rendering specialist support to students with disabilities in higher education e.g., Accommodation assessments, special examinations for students with disabilities, etc. 
• South African Sign Language (SASL) language will be an added advantage 
 
Knowledge
• Knowledge of project/programme management 
• Knowledge of teaching, learning in Higher Education 
• Professional knowledge of skills development and support functions: human behaviour: counselling (individual, group) 
• Counselling portfolios related to academic and personal development focus areas: Professional knowledge of remedial support work

The Department of Computer Systems Engineering in the Faculty of ICT has a Senior Lecturer position available at the Soshanguve South campus. 
 
Key performance areas/Core functions: 
Teaching and Instruction 
  • Develop and deliver lectures and seminars in computer systems engineering, ensuring content is up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. 
  • Design and implement innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning and engagement. 
  • Supervise and mentor students in their academic studies, projects, and in preparation for examinations. 
  • Assessment and evaluation of student work to maintain high academic standards. 
Curriculum Development 
  • Develop and revise curriculum offerings to ensure they reflect the current state and advancements in computer systems engineering.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in continuous improvement of teaching resources and curriculum planning. 
Research 
  • Engage in scholarly research activities leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals within the field of computer systems engineering. 
  • Secure funding for research projects through grant writing and collaborations with industry and other academic institutions. 
  • Supervise undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral research, providing expertise and guidance.

Minimum Requirements 
Academic Qualifications: 
  • A Doctoral degree (NQF level 10) in Computing with a specialization in Computer Systems Engineering, or in Engineering with a specialisation in Electronics. 
 
Experience: 
  • Three (3) years relevant lecturing experience in Computer Systems Engineering or related fields. 
 
Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Core Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of core subjects in Computer Systems Engineering. 
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages relevant to embedded systems, such as C, C++, and Assembly. 
  • Hardware Description Languages: Experience with HDLs (VHDL or Verilog) for FPGA and ASIC design. 
  • Artificial Intelligence: Skills in designing and implementing Al models and algorithms, particularly for embedded and real-time systems. 
  • Internet of Things (loT): Knowledge of loT technologies and protocols essential for automation and smart systems integration. 
  • Sensor Technology: Familiarity with sensor technologies, data acquisition, and signal processing. 
  • Simulation and Modeling: Proficiency in using simulation and modeling tools such as Python, MATLAB/Simulink, and LabVIEW. 
 
Professional Registration: 
  • Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is highly desirable. 
  • Membership in relevant academic or professional bodies, such as IEEE, is strongly recommended.

  • Evidence of presentation of academic papers at local and international conferences. 
  • An NRF research rating is strongly recommended. 
 
Knowledge and skills 
  • Management experience in an academic environment would be a strong recommendation.
