The Directorate of Student Development and Support (SDS) in Higher Education and Development has a three (3) year fixed term position of Student Tracking System Officer available at the Pretoria Campus.

Critical Performance Areas:
- Provide effective and professional support related to the Student Tracking System to the SDS Directorate and the institution
- Utilize data analytics to extract insight, drive decision – making, and optimize performance, ensuring accurate and actionable data interpretation.
- Develop, implement, and refine models to address complex problems, support institutional goals, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other stakeholders, fostering a cooperative and productive work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested, adapting to evolving institutional needs and contributing to overall success.
Minimum Requirements:
- NQF Level 6 (bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematical Statistics)
Experience (minimum)
- Three (3) years relevant experience in data analytics in Higher Education or similar relevant environments
- Experience in data reporting
- Experience in system support services
- Experience in AI and machine learning
- Experience in working within a multiple – team context
Knowledge
- Advanced computer literacy (in all Microsoft Office programmes, specifically Advanced MS Excel)
- Proficient in statistical software programmes (e.g. SAS, R, SPSS, SQL)
- Artificial intelligence
- Machine learning
- Knowledge of record – keeping systems and basic database systems
- Knowledge of database management
- A solid understanding of statistical methods and concepts
- Knowledge of data manipulation and cleaning
- Knowledge of data visualization

The Department of Architecture and Industrial Design has a permanent position available for a Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the TUT Pretoria Campus.
Job purpose:
The successful applicant will join the Department’s team in delivering professionally accredited courses in Architecture, contribute to the research portfolio and the SACAP accreditation submission. The applicant will be responsible for the organisation, administration and teaching of modules in the Fourth Year Technology stream of the BArch qualification by delivering the following:
- Design studio teaching,
- Lectures,
- Seminars,
- Tutorials and assessments.
Critical Performance Areas:
- Academic teaching activities include design, construction, technical studio, building physics and systems design, advanced construction, advanced building physics and other subjects that are consistent with the needs of the Department.
- The lecturing modules include a combination of the following Technology modules (but are not limited to the listed items): Studio Works
- Building Physics and Systems Design
- Construction
- Professional Practice
- Advanced Construction
- Advanced Building Physics and Systems Design

- Coordinating the undergraduate and/or postgraduate selection process.
- Coordinating the full year programme of the Technology year group in which the successful candidate will be teaching.
- Act as supervisor and/or design mentor for students in the master’s degree programmes and assist with student consultation.
- Producing and developing of original research work, innovation and community projects, aligning it with the current departmental research themes.
- Standard academic duties and responsibilities.
- Evaluate students on a continuous basis as well as administer tests and assignments according to study guides.
- Setting, preparing and conducting high quality lectures for specific modules.
- Marking of assignments, tests and conducting practicals throughout the year.
- Participating in departmental meetings and other meetings.
- General administration such as capturing test and assignment marks on IT System, uploading documents on myTUTor/D2L and compiling of subject file(s).
- Infrastructure development and management for curriculum advancement.
- Other responsibilities include participating in community projects, industry liaison and managing selected Departmental portfolios.
Minimum Requirements
- Academic qualifications:
- A Masters degree in Architecture (NQF Level 9), or HEQSF equivalent (5-year BArch degree).
Experience:
- Three (3) years relevant teaching experience at tertiary level to teach technical design studio, construction, building physics and systems design and/or three years of industry experience in Architecture & Industrial Design within the specialization fields of building physics, systems design, sustainability, building energy modelling (BEM), building energy modelling (BEM) and energy efficiency.
- Experience of working in an academic research environment.
- Experience of developing new curricula.
- Presentation of practical classes and critique of designs on group and individual basis.
- Experience of managing academic matters, programme quality, student affairs and research projects.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge in the field of Architecture, specialisation in Building Physics and Systems Design.
- Communication and interpersonal skills which give you the ability to engage with students, colleagues, businesses, and other agencies on a wide variety of matters.
- Ability to participate in original research programs.
- Presentation of practical classes and critique of designs on group and individual basis.
Registration with professional body (SACAP):
- Registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) will be advantageous within either the category of:
- Candidate Professional Senior Architectural Technologist (Cand PrSArchT), or
- Professional Senior Architectural Technologist (PrSArchT), or
- Candidate Professional Architect (Cand PrArch), or
- Professional Architect (PrArch).

The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment: Office of the Dean has a permanent position for a Faculty Quality Officer at the Pretoria Campus.
Key Performance Areas:
- Quality Assurance Development of a comprehensive Quality Assurance System.
- Developed a Quality structure and communication networking system.
- Defining processes and procedures within the teaching and learning environment:
- Re-assessing the compilation of policy on assessment and moderation of learning.
- Compile policies, processes, and procedures to cover all aspects of assessment.
- Submit to Task team, Academic Committee for approval and submission into TUT policy system.
- Determine faculty benchmarks for the various components of a study guide system.
- Development of departmental programme guide templates and Course Outline (Syllabi) templates
- Development and maintenance of student Programme and Course Guides,
- Quality Office Administration Handling of correspondence/documents/re orts
- Handling of student matters (quality related) which have been referred to the Faculty EXCO and Faculty Board, as well as all accompanying correspondence and documentation.
- Compilation of Faculty Report/Annual Report.
- Liaising with Administrative and Academic Departments.
- Coordinate admission requirements and selection criteria in cooperation with the academic departments and Academic Administration
- Monitor the SLP process according to policy to ensure Quality.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Faculty Accreditation Plan covering all professional Bodies:
- Compile and submit SAQA submissions (Qualifications and Unit Standards) for registrations, HEQC online self-evaluation reports for all new and revised programmes (credit bearing) to DQP EXCO, Faculty Board and Senate for Approval
Minimum Requirements:
- NQF level 7
- A relevant ¾ year qualification:
- A Bachelor's degree/Advanced Diploma in any field of Engineering or related fields of the Built Environment or Education.
Experience:
- years of relevant experience in an academic environment related to developing or implementing the quality management system, liaising with professional bodies, and being involved in internal or external reviews within the high education environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Outcome based education system.
- Understanding of the National Standard Setting system including: HEQF, SAQA, SGB’s ext., Unit Standard Based and whole qualifications.
- Institutional PQM and its implementation and implication (feasibility and viability).
- Quality systems example ISO, excellence model, Invest in People IIP
- Higher Education Accreditation System, covering HEQC and professional bodies
- ITS, MIS etc.
- Communication skills.
- Organisational & coordinating skills, report writing, minute taking, handling of quality investigations and audits, IT skills Database development and maintenance.

PART-TIME POSITION: SEWING MACHINE TECHNICIAN
Department: Fashion Design

The Department of Fashion Design in the Faculty of Arts has a five-month Part-time position as a Sewing Machine Technician.
Core functions:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Routine servicing, maintenance, and repair of sewing machines and related garment construction equipment.
- Ensure machines are safe and functional for academic use.
- Assist students with setup, troubleshooting, and operating machines during practical sessions.
- Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Provide technical guidance to staff and students.
Minimum Requirements
- National Certificate in Sewing Machine Mechanics (NQF Level 3) or relevant technical qualification in sewing machine repair and maintenance
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills suitable for an educational setting.
Experience:
- Proven experience servicing industrial and domestic sewing machines.
- Experience in fashion or garment manufacturing.
- Knowledge of embroidery, overlock, and specialized garment and textile machinery.
