Critical Performance Areas
The lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundation, in the School of Education, is an academic leader responsible for teaching and managing activities of teaching and learning and assist with curricula developments in relation to the MRTEQ requirements of the department including that he/she must teach the subjects: SKILLS AND LIFE ORIENTATION: SPORT MANAGEMENT AND COACHING LEVEL 3/ PHYSICAL EDUCATION LEVELS 1-3/ PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING TEACHERS
- Must be able to teach sport skills and theory in diverse sports.
- To teach the foundations of sport skills, human movement and the holistic development of a child.
- To teach diverse sport skills and rules associated with these sports.
- Participate in re-curriculation processes concerning the implementation of sport skills and physical education as a subject within the department.
- Compile learning material, a study guide and upload these documents and assignments on MyTutor/Brightspace.
- Assess students’ skills and enter marks on the ITS system.
- Assist with students’ queries related to the subjects concerning the subject.
- Promote ethics, excellence and quality in teaching and learning.
- Participate in marketing and recruitment strategies of the department.
- Must have experience in creating and managing team-oriented tasks.
- Be able to adjust according to students’ needs and work in extra time slots if the required skills are not acquired by students.
- Research supervision of master’s students
- Develop and organize maintenance of sport facilities on campus.
- Be able to evaluate students, both online and face-to-face during Teaching Practice.
Minimum Requirements
Academic qualifications:
- M-Tech/ master’s degree in Sport Management or any field/qualification with Sport Management Specialization or related sport fields
Experience:
- Three years’ sport teaching experience in FET education at a Higher Education Institution.
- Knowledge and experience in the area of sport management and sport skills.
- Knowledge and experience of evaluating Teaching Practice both face-to-face and online.

Minimum requirements:
Academic qualifications:
- A doctoral degree/Ph.D. in Education from an accredited institution of higher education/university
- A professional designation will be a strong recommendation.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of teaching experience in Chemistry/Chemistry Education and/or Physics/Physics Education in the field of teacher education. In addition, the applicants must have experience in the teaching of Didactics for the indicated content areas.
- Applicants are expected to have an understanding of the HEQSF and related activities;
- Applicants are expected to have experience in curriculum development and/or instructional design for their teaching disciplines (i.e. Chemistry and/or Physics and related Didactics)
- Applicants must demonstrate a proven collaborative and individual record of research publications in accredited academic journals and conference proceedings, community engagement, and postgraduate students’ supervision up to doctoral level;
- As a proven experience in teacher education teaching, the applicants must have taught at undergraduate and Honours levels in teacher education;
- For this position (i.e. Associate Professor), candidates must meet all the requirements as per the approved measuring instrument (i.e. scoresheet) used for promotions at TUT.
- In addition to the experience of teaching, applicants must at least have 3 years of general management in an academic department including the management of research in an academic department.
- To teach Chemistry/Chemistry applicants must at least have 2 years of laboratory work experience in an industrial setting.
